UIC Graduate Entry Program

Published

Hi folks,

Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?

My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...

From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?

I sure hope that they do not admit less because they eliminated FNP. Eliminating FNP made it competitive enough for all the other specialties....

Did someone confirm that they completely eliminated the FNP curriculum from the school, or is UIC just no longer accepting applications from GEP applicants into the FNP specialty?

I believe it's just for this year. The whole curriculum is not eliminated from this program. I mean FNP is a very popular track... I've seen schools with FNP as a must have and not sub speciality such as MH.

Yeah it's just eliminated this year for GEP applicants because they overadmitted for the regular Master's students.

Anyone in Adult Geriatrics set up the interview yet? I still haven't heard from our specialty coordinator yet and am getting worried (I keep checking my spam lol). I might call this afternoon or tomorrow if I don't hear.

Yes, please do call and let us know. I am MH and haven't heard anything either...

Thanks!

I still haven't been contacted by the coordinator for Adult-Gerontology Acute Care. Hopefully we will be contacted today! Maybe those interviews are some of the last to be conducted? Not sure! If anyone hears anything, let me know!

I got an email this afternoon from the coordinator; Adult Geriatric interviews are on Mon April 22. She said they are 45 min; and in small group. I signed up for 9am slot! I hope you all hear today about your interview times! Good luck to all interviewing too!

@jmonkeyjen I also signed up for the interview on April 22nd. I was hoping for a Skype interview because I live in Arizona, but I spoke to the coordinator today and she said that doing a phone or Skype interview is definitely a disadvantage. I really don't want to spend $500 flying to Chicago, but it seems like that's the only thing to do.

@katherinewerner I am sorry you have to fly into Chicago-but I am glad coordinator was honest about skyping being a disadvantage. I live in Chicagoland area so if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Hey everyone - please, please don't post any of the schools' employees names....this impacts THEIR privacy and I doubt very much they want their names posted all over the internet.

Please respect others' privacy. Thanks.

That sucks!
