Hi folks,
Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?
My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...
From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?
Did someone confirm that they completely eliminated the FNP curriculum from the school or is UIC just no longer accepting applications from GEP applicants into the FNP specialty?[/quote']I believe it's just for this year. The whole curriculum is not eliminated from this program. I mean FNP is a very popular track... I've seen schools with FNP as a must have and not sub speciality such as MH.
Anyone in Adult Geriatrics set up the interview yet? I still haven't heard from our specialty coordinator yet and am getting worried (I keep checking my spam lol). I might call this afternoon or tomorrow if I don't hear.
Yes, please do call and let us know. I am MH and haven't heard anything either...
Thanks!
@jmonkeyjen I also signed up for the interview on April 22nd. I was hoping for a Skype interview because I live in Arizona, but I spoke to the coordinator today and she said that doing a phone or Skype interview is definitely a disadvantage. I really don't want to spend $500 flying to Chicago, but it seems like that's the only thing to do.

That sucks!

I sure hope that they do not admit less because they eliminated FNP. Eliminating FNP made it competitive enough for all the other specialties....
