UIC Graduate Entry Program

Published

Hi folks,

Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?

My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...

From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?

@katherinewerner I grew up in oak park (a suburb near Chicago) and currently live in Tinley Park (but looking forward to moving back into the city if accepted into UIC).I attended UIC for undergrad and loved living in Greektown (which is very close to UIC's east campus for anyone who isn't from Chicago). Does anyone know average cohort size? I attended the GEP information session; but do not remember the answer to that question. It does seem like a large interview group for adult geriatrics; but I am just happy so many of us made it to the interview stage. @steve21021 I am sure they understand not everyone can make it in for interviews; and I hope Skype interview goes well!

I remember reading on the website that not everyone receives an interview. So some applicants get admitted without getting interviewed.... I wonder if there are people lurking out there that belong in this category

@steve- do your best and I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed for you and all the other skypers! Thats weird some specialities say its a disadvantage and others understand the need for a Skype interview...

I don't think anyone gets admitted without an interview. At least that is what information session said. However, not everyone who applies makes it to interview stage --so we should all be happy that we made it to interview stage!

Yayyyy! :)

hi everyone,

i finally joined as a member after months of reading this thread...haha. I also got offered an interview for AG Primary NP, so I'll be flying from Boston that weekend. But I'm very nervous about the group interview format, but I guess there is a first time for everything. :)

Just received the dates for PMHNP interviews. I was literally about to call. 4/15, 4/16, and 4/22. Or is it only the 22nd because they don't list other times for the 15th and the 16th?

edit: Nevermind, they're sending a separate invitation for each date.

Yay! Just got the invite! April 22! 1-4 pm :)

I signed up for 22!

Just got an email confirming the date. Really strange they sent the latest date first, so I signed up for that. Only to receive a sooner date several minutes later. So I canceled and signed up for that lol. Oh, looks like I just got another email with an even sooner date...looks like I'm r/s again :) So bizzarre

Haha right? Too bad we won't get to meet each other.

@sitten- yay!!! Can't wait to meet you!

I know :( but I am getting married this summer and I have my confirmation on the 22nd. I've got a sneaky feeling we will all be meeting each other at orientation :)
