UIC Graduate Entry Program

Published

Hi folks,

Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?

My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...

From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?

Also just so that other specialties know, not every department does group interviews, I asked for the WHNP program and they said that they do all individual interviews. But how many interviews are conducted in relation to how many spots there are? Because there are 45 interview slots of WHNP, but they only let what, 6-8 in? This makes me so nervous....

Sigh I may need to change my date, just realized my co-worker is going out of town already on the 22nd.

@kwolikowa – how'd you cancel your previos registration?

I went into cancel request/date, I think. It won't let me bring that page up again. Apparently if you cancel for a date, you cannot go back and request it again.

I know :( but I am getting married this summer and I have my confirmation on the 22nd. I've got a sneaky feeling we will all be meeting each other at orientation :)

OMG! Congratulations! I'm so excited for you! Good luck! And most def we will see each other at the orientation.

Sitten- Nooo :( I sent you a message :)

so excited for you all that heard about interview dates! i'm still waiting to hear from occupational health/fnp

@girlincali - I saw that you got an interview for school nurse/fnp, wondering if you have heard anything yet? ....thinking our depts are very similar and hopefully we will hear around the same time.

Goodluck everyone! I think I will end up declining my interview...I really wanted to see what the program/Chicago area is like, but the air travel is just too expensive at the moment. Plus, I've accepted a spot at another school which I will most likely choose anyways. Nonetheless, good luck to everyone here! I wish I could have met all of you.

@rainkissedleaves Thank you! Very excited and anxious about it :) This whole process is not alleviating any of that tension either ;)

Where will you be attending school now? If you don't mind me asking.

@rainkissedleaves No problem! I will attending Western University of Health Sciences in California.

Great! Good luck with your future endeavors

@ncami10: I called and they sent me an email right after. I'm doing a teleconference (Skype group interview) on April 22nd. Apparently the School/FNP track will take an extra year (2 semesters) because of the extra courses for the school track. So, I'm thinking it'll take about 4 years. Do you know how long Occupational/FNP track will take?
