2018 UIC Graduate Entry Master of Science Program (GEM)

I haven't seen a post about UIC GEM 2018 program so I figured I'd start it.

Has anyone else been invited to the mock interviews and planning on attending?

I also signed up to do a skype interview and haven't received confirmation on that yet.

I left a voicemail with admissions office this morning but they have yet to respond. :-/

I received an invitation to interview as well my initial reaction and question was, is every applicant selected to interview? I assume not because that would be too many people, but on UIC's website it states that the interview is a requirement in the application process for all applicants. Anyone know the answer to that? Also, how do you know these are mock interviews? Were you aware of that prior to your scheduled interview or did you find out upon attending? I saw nothing that stated these were "mock interviews". Just wanted to clarify!

Yes, they interview all applicants that have met the criteria. Based on previous forums, they have hosted mock interviews that contained the same questions that were asked during the real interviews. The school sent out an email with a link to sign up for these mock interviews weeks before sending out the link for signing up for the real interviews. The mock interviews were on campus. I couldn't attend because I'm an out of state applicant.

Thank you for your response! Yes, I received an email to sign up for an interview. I will be interviewing this Friday- just was not aware before that these were mock interviews. Good to know!

ddee94- THE INTERVIEW ON FRIDAY IS NOT A MOCK INTERVIEW! Mock interviews are done. These are the real deal! GOOD LUCK!

Does anyone the expectations regarding things to bring into the interview? Should we bring a notebook and/or other things?

I had mine yesterday, you do not need anything. It is insanely quick and easy!

What kind of questions did they ask?

Just finished my video-in interview and it was 20mins long. There were two other students in person and three of us online.

They said to keep answers shorts and they would move fast to try and get through as many questions as possible - and they did go fast.

5 questions

1 - why did you chose nursing

2 - what do you see as the biggest concern in healthcare

3 - your biggest learning experience and how does it relate to nursing

4 - (blanking on what this one was)

5 - where do you see yourself in 5 years

I had my interview yesterday and it literally took 15 minutes. Questions where simple nothing really to worry about :)
