UIC BSN Fall 2020 interviews

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello, everyone! I applied to the BSN program at UIC for Fall 2020 and I’m super anxious about the entire process. I received an email inviting me for a mock interview that’s conducted through the Urban Health Program and was wondering if anyone else received this email

Can you please tell me what it said on your application status? What is it being marked as?

Under "Offer Admission Status" it says "ADMIT" for me (I'm a transfer student, this may be different if you're a UIC student already).

Have any of you guys gotten your Token Number? I'm trying to set up my UIC Student Portal. I received my UIN number but I can't seem to find my Token Number in the Acceptance letter/email.

Hey, for those that are waitlisted, what is your status on https://admissions.nursing.uic.edu/ when you checked it? Does it say "DECISION MADE"?

Thanks for answering :))

Yes mine says decision made!

? Just curious.. Did anyone else hear back from the waitlist? I got admitted from the waitlist last Friday via email to the Urbana campus and I was wondering if anyone else got off the waitlist too. Also, if anyone did get off the waitlist, has your application status changed yet? Bc mine doesn't have any updates at all, not even "decision made"

I know this is an old form, but if you feel comfortable will you being willing to say what was your GPA, extracurricular activities, and if you got accepted/denied/waitlist? I'm just trying to figure my chances. ? Reading that people with a 4.0 GPA get denied scares me.

I was waitlisted then eventually accepted a month later.  My overall GPA ended up being a 3.7 but my science GPA was below a 3.0.  I volunteered at a hospital for one Summer in Chicago and only half a semester in Urbana bc of covid.  I was also a general member in a couple of clubs.  I remember thinking I was super under qualified, but I think I just got lucky.  I know someone who got an acceptance the week before class started to don't lose hope too soon.  This is for Urbana btw and Chicago will be significantly harder to get into. I did not have a 2nd or 3rd choice since I wanted to stay at UIUC.

So I got an interview! What kind of questions did they ask? Supper nervous. I've only had 4 job interviews in my whole life. 2 of which I didn't get the job. What are things to do/not do during a virtual interview?

Hi, are you a current UIC student? I also applied, but as a transfer student, and I haven't gotten that email. I think that's just something the LAS health sciences sends out to applicants? We have to give this a few weeks for invitations

What can you contribute to the UIC community?

If you weren't going into nursing, what two careers would you pursue?

How will you manage your social and academic life in nursing school?

Explain a situation where you helped someone during a difficult time.

If I remembered correctly, these were the questions asked for my group!  I interviewed in person so im not sure how zoom interviews would go.  There were 6 (?) people in each group so be sure to be respectful and not take too long to answer.  Generally, after a question is asked, you don't want to be the first person responding each time but try to be the first to answer for one question.  The interviewers do not look at your application or resume beforehand so this is the time to make a good impression and talk about your experiences. Make sure to come up with questions to ask the interviewers at the end.  They really try to make it as chill as possible so just be yourself!! Good luck ?
