UIC BSN Fall 2020 interviews

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello, everyone! I applied to the BSN program at UIC for Fall 2020 and I’m super anxious about the entire process. I received an email inviting me for a mock interview that’s conducted through the Urban Health Program and was wondering if anyone else received this email

Okay thanks for informing me that! I hope we all get in! I had my interview today, and it wasn’t as bad as I thought as it would be. Good luck to everyone else and their interviews! ?

That’s awesome, does that mean you did a virtual interview? The only interviews available for on-campus seemed to begin on Wednesday. Glad it went well!

Whoops, I just realized you posted from earlier about getting a Monday interview since you were at Urbana. Very well, best of luck to you!

Katiosonfire123, was this interview for BSN?

I’m not sure if the same process is for all campuses but for mine, we were in a group and we were asked 4 simple questions that were basic and just along the lines what we can contribute to the program etc. it was nothing super difficult, and it honestly helped being in a group.

the questions are probably different for the chicago campus versus the urbana campus. different professors ask different questions

Any word on attire? When I attended a BSN informational meeting over the Summer, the advisor recommended "to dress appropriately..."I'm under the assumption that business casual is too little, so I'm doing a bit more business professional?

I'm a guy, so I plan on wearing dress shoes, pants, shirt + tie, and a jacket. Was curious to know what you all saw.

When I went to the mock interview, everyone recommended to dress in business attire & to look as professional as you possibly could.

I think a jacket may be overdoing it. I'll be wearing a dress shirt, dress pants, dress shoes, and a tie.

I’m wearing a blazer to be safe. Yes there is such a thing as overdressing, but here it might be a good idea to play on the more professional side. If I get there, and it the blazer is too much (which I doubt) I can always take it off. I think you should wear the jacket, and just remove it if you’re the only one wearing it. Hope that helps

Hi I'll be having my interview on thursday! What was the writing sample like?

For dress code everyone was in business attire, because I only saw girls that day and I am myself one, all of them ended up wearing a pant suit and heels. But I’m sure for what you are wearing is perfect. The writing sample only asked one question and we had 30 min to do it, I think they changed it for every day (but it wasn’t nurse related for me) so it kinda threw me off. I was expecting a prompt that would ask like what is a nurses role, or how would you exceed in our program etc but it wasn’t like that.
