Hello there! Anyone applying to UHM Nursing Program for Spring '15 admission? Just wondering if you'd be interested in sharing your stats. I'll be submitting my application soon and am really curious if I have a chance...

Here's my stats:

pgpa:3.7

cgpa: 3.35

NLN:

composite score: 127

composite percentile: 89%

We should, my friends are so angry. No, which is another reason why Im really mad and irritated. Especially when I found out students who have similar stats got in and I got rejected. I was thinking public health, go to KCC (wait another semester because UH decided to let us know a week after the deadline), apply to different medical programs in KCC (medical assisting, medical lab technician, etc.). I really wanted to go into the BSN program and not ADN.

Acciodonghae, do you have a back up plan? or are you trying for nursing again? I know I should have hope an all but I feel like only the best of the best can get in for FALL2015 due to limited seats.. What are your stats?

No I don't have one either :( I was thinking about public health too, but I'm taking the intro class right and I don't really find it interesting... I don't have any other classes I can take besides PHRM 203 so I'll be taking a bunch of random classes next semester to see if anything piques my interest. I'll probably apply for Fall 2015 just to see what happens, but I also don't have high expectations. My stats are:

pGPA: 3.76

cGPA: 3.31

NLN

Verbal: 71

Math: 97

Science: 81

Overall: 131

Your are really good, what year are you in? You should apply for KCC for the hell of it, its free anyways. Do you have any certification, rewards, taken the mcat, good SAT/ACT scores, hospital references, etc.? Same here about the public health, its most similar to nursing put doesn't peak my interest either.

Sorry I meant, "Your stats are really good"

Thanks, yours are really good too! I wish my cumulative was that high haha. I'm a junior right now, how about you? Nope I don't have any of that D: I was in a science fair back in high school but that's about it. I should have volunteered at a hospital at least but I didn't think I'd need it...

I'm sorry to hear y'all didn't get in. Your stats look similar to mine. From what I've heard is that each of the areas they look at are on a point system so the students with the most overall points get accepted but who knows. When I applied Brian did say I could always reapply before the fall deadline to still try to get in.

I wish mines were higher, maybe I would've got accepted before they added all these extra aspects of the application. Same here, Im hoping not to graduate so late. I talked to a nurse today and she said volunteer is key, at least three months, the application is due so soon so it won't be enough time anyways. I just wished they told us all this information beforehand so we have at least more than two months to prepare.

Thanks iortiz, congrats to you though :) They should tell us exactly how this point system works... Someone told me they accept some people with lower stats so the program doesn't look like its impossible to get in... I've heard a bunch of different things. Do we really need letters of recommendation and experience? o.o its not fair that they're suddenly adding all these requirements

Have you met with an adviser? They pretty much break down the point system and how your application stacks up. There's not a lot of ambiguity in the admission process. Add up points. Highest points get in.

Don't rely on what you "heard" from "someone".

I haven't been able to see the advisor yet, but its still weird how some people with lower scores than others are getting in... Especially in nursingstudent808's case

Exactly what acciodonghae said. Im planning to meet with Brian today. I'm sure its not based on a point system.
