Hello all,
I noticed there was not a thread started for the University of Hawaii-Manoa GEPN Fall 2015 applicants so I decided to start one!
I just finished up all of the requirements and got all of my documents and information submitted through NursingCAS yesterday...so now the waiting begins.
I applied for the APHN program for Fall 2015.
I know they admit on a rolling admissions basis now so I'm just anxious, waiting, and nervous about a response. I was told that it will take approximately 4-6 weeks or so to possibly receive a decision. It can't come quick enough for me!!!!! =D
Is there anyone else who applied for the GEPN Fall 2015 cohort at UH-Manoa? Wondering who may be joining me in the Fall of 2015!!
Oh I figured it out lol. You need to activate it via the graduate school.
It's on this pdf for new students: http://manoa.hawaii.edu/graduate/sites/manoa.hawaii.edu.graduate/files/documents/misc/info_new_returning.pdf
Kathy510- You can attend these informational meetings online as well. Shannon is very helpful, and can answer all your questions. His e-mail is on the GEPN site. As far as which route to take, you should do some research as to what interests you most. I applied to the APHN MSN. I would love to work for the CDC or AHA.
When I was accepted (a few years ago) I found that it was my personal statement that really set me apart. I had pretty much "middle of the pack" grades and extras but the thing about those who are on the acceptance committee is that they love to look for "the X-factor" students who will make great nurses. I had tons of people with surprising nursing-related experiences and jobs but those of us with little (or in my case no) healthcare experiences had highlighted X-factor type things in our personal statement....also I'm not sure if you guys still do statements or if it is now it's a youtube video like I heard but either way just try and play up parts of you that no one can compare to. And really make sure whoever writes your letter of Rec is glowing about you lol.
Hi All,
I stumbled across this thread tonight. Congrats to any of you that have found out about your acceptance to the program. I am actually a current Cohort 8 GEPN student. My specialty track is APHN. I had applied last year in January and found out about my acceptance about two weeks later. This year we have undergone some changes in leadership, so I am not sure how quick the turn around has been for you all. Just wanted to let you all know that if you had any questions, I would be happy to answer as best as I can.
Good luck to you all!
Hi guys!
I'm applying to the Fall 2017 cycle for DNP-FNP program and would love some advice. I'm worried I might not be a strong applicant because of average grades. For those of you that got it, would you mind sharing your GPA in your prereqs and overall? Also, what did you do to make yourself a stronger applicant?
Thanks for taking the time to respond I really want to get into this program so any advice would be appreciated! :)

Thanks acnngb! I was able to go up there and get the exact break down like you were just just explaining, @caitlinnk I too had trouble finding the exact tuition, I dont think the table applies to us because our first year is based on the outreach college rates.. But like acnngb said, you can contact the financial aid office and they have the exact numbers from tuition to whats alloted for transporation, books, personal expenses, etc.
