I was wondering how much new grads make anually with a BSN in nursing...?

I am pregnant with my first child, applying to colleges, & I need to choose a major in the health field that I enjoy that will also bring a good amount of money home...

I was also considering physical therapy, but I don't think they are as in demand as nurses...

so, how much money do new rns make? i was planning on working in the surgical unit,or the intensive care unit

Texas, the OP disclosed her pregnancy on her own accord so please don't play that card. Many of us were pregnant at a young age so it's not an "us vs. her" situation. This discussion has almost nothing to do with the fact that she is 17 and pregnant except that raising a child is expensive and someday she will be grateful for the money she is balking at now if she does become a nurse. I encourage you to right click on her user name and choose "view all public posts." You will see post after post after post about her wanting to major in different professions, repeatedly asking the same question, and it becomes obvious that money is the only motivator...she wants to major in whatever she can make the most in...which is fine, but stop coming to a nursing forum and post 8234782374 questions about other specalties like an OBGYN physician and how much money they make. Time to research on your own instead of taking advantage of a resource like allnurses. The OP has been condescending, rude, and disrespectful. If she has a legitimate nursing question, wonderful, but she has been given multiple websites for salary information in her area MANY times and she still constantly posts the same question. We are NOT, I repeat NOTa division of www.salary.com

As far as the nurses eating their young comment, I'm simply not going there.

I agree that we need to give the poster the benefit of the doubt. So...please if we can't be positive, maybe we should not say anything.
