I need to finish my hours up! I still have 27 hours to finish! Dh is out of town for 3 more weeks so I can't do 12-hour shifts right now because of my kids. Ugh! I was hoping to get this done by next Monday! Sorry, just posting my frustration...hopefully I can get back to sleep.

No, they have to be approved through my school or something like that to be able to precept us. I'm fine about it I guess (as long as I get my hours in...)it will be 74 degrees here, I can get my kids early - they're at my parent's house about 3 hours away but this way we'll have time to play outside.:)

Will your preceptor be working enough for you to get those hours in??

Good luck, I know it sucks when you are at the mercy of someone else's schedule.

Where i work, if you have a student with you, and usually you have agreed prior to the student coming in, you dont get off the days you have a student working with you. If you have to be off for an emergency, and it better be an emergency, they will have someone else work with you that day, but it makes for a real confused situation.

I can relate. Up at 3 am to make a 5 am clinical ... only to get there and learn my clinical instructor was sick ...

Somebody forgot to call me ....

Grrrrr ...

I'd be sooooooo pissed!!!!

Had it happen to me. Call your school asap, often they have a list of nurses who have preceptored for them in the past who work that unit. Things can be salvaged if you act early.
