Ugh, pink eye!

OP...I sooo hope you get over it soon. The last time I had pink eye, I got it in both and couldn't see a dang thing. It drove me absolutely bananas. I can't imagine how kids stand it when it's so hard on us!

I'm getting caught up on The Golden Girls and The Nanny as we speak! LOL

I'm also getting to spend some quality time with my husband too, who now has it! :rolleyes: Can't figure out how he got it either....this must be easier to spread than wildfire!!!

Be sure to launder face cloths throughly and replace any eye makeup you used within the 24 hours before you came down with it.

I've got a question....I'm just a student finishing her prereqs now, so I'm just curious. If you have pink-eye, or some other infection that's just as contagious, are you pressured to come to work anyway?

I'm asking because I was fired from a job because I went home because I had pink eye. I worked for a company that processed paperwork as a third party, so it's not like I left anything really urgent on my desk that couldn't be done one day later. My manager and HR rep actually told me to stay and work until my lunch hour, and go to the dr. instead of eating. Their only advice to me was not to touch my face. I left instead of waiting....I went to the doctor, I got a note, and I was terminated later.

I guess I'm basically just venting here, but it just seemed to me that the company cared more that I would be at my desk, instead of my wellfare, and the health of everyone that worked around me...

Well, where I work, it's like this...You have to stay home until it quits draining and treatment has been initiated. So, what that translates to is approximately 24 hours!

Pink eye is soooooooooooo contagious! I guess they figure that even if you don't touch your eye, but it's draining, you run the risk of contaminating others by tiny droplets that you may not even realize you're losing.

The other thing is this....I work for a hospital, but it sounds as though you were working in an office, where they were obviously not as familiar with different illnesses, infections, etc. No, I don't think getting fired for that alone was justified.

NeuroICURN, I feel for ya ... pink eye is miserable. Not so much the actual symptoms, which clear quickly, but it's sooooo contagious. Someone mentioned throwing away eye makeup that you used recently ... also wash sheets, towels, clothing ... and if there's a couch or chair that you lounge on frequently, it wouldn't hurt to hit that with Lysol either.
