Ugh- online class

Is anyone else here taking any on-line classes?

I am getting very aggravated. I'm taking a summer Bio class on-line, and for the past 2 days I haven't even been able to log on to my school's website. It keeps saying "internet explorer cannot display this page." This isn't the only time this has happened. I know it's not my computer, because every other website works for me, and I have tried logging on to my school's website on THREE other computers, and it still doesn't bring the page up. GRRR. Just wondering if anyone else ever has this problem with taking on-line classes. I'm supposed to take an exam tonight too!

Sorry, just had to rant. :banghead:

Hmm, that could be a possibility. Never really thought of that. I think the site has been down since Friday night

I'm taking online classes this summer too and I've actually had the website be down when I had assignments due! (all assignments sent via webmail). I know it's so frustrating when that happens! I don't know if I would do the online thing again as its causing wayyyy to many problems

any time the site is down for maintenance, there are notices sent in advance. Also it would be very unlikely that the site is down for 2 days for maintenance

Sounds like they don't have any on-call tech people, which is really stupid.

This has happened before, and it was down close to 2 days over a weekend. And when they sent the notice, they sent it to my school e-mail only (even though they have my other e-mail that I use more often), so I didn't even get the update until the site was working again.

I think I'll just have to call the school tomorrow if it's still not working. I just e-mailed my professor, too, to see if other students have came to him with the same problem.

Wow, that wasn't very smart of them to email you at the school address! Did you let them know so they can set it up differently in the future?

I haven't had issues with not being able to log in at a critical time, but my school's site does run very slow at times, which is frustrating.

FYI: If your school email addy is through Outlook, you can set a rule to send a copy of any emails you receive there to your main home email addy. That way, you'll be sure to get your school emails if you're unable to access the site. ;)

Wow that doesn't sound like a very good setup! Sorry to hear about the troubles.

So far I haven taken almost all of my pre-reqs online and have had some major computer and program issues. You should have a 24/7 support line you can call for just that reason if their site is down you may be able to get an extention on your assignment.

Are you taking classes at Daytona State by any chance? I am currently taking an online class and just finished one also. They changed their name from DBCC to DBC and then daytona State. Everytime there was a name change, they changed their website address and also online access address. For online access, the change was minor, but they expected everyone to automatically know that when you can't access the online site, make sure you clear your cache!!!! Otherwise, it will keep putting in the old web address.

One way to check this is when you type the address and hit enter, watch the bar at the top of the screen to make sure the address doesnt change to something else. Hope this helps.
