  1. I used to wear the stockings, and then I discovered Zensah Tech+ Compression Socks! So much cooler looking, longer lasting and way more comfortable! I don't do a shift without wearing these!
  2. I took it today also at the same time!! Same story, 75 questions, good pop up and I am still wondering if its true!
  3. Im about to take NCLEX in a few weeks! Thanks! I just downloaded this free book so havent had a chance to read it yet, but the table of contents look great!!! Here's hoping it helps me! :)
  4. I just finished the live hurst review. I felt like I got my money's worth! However, I haven't taken the NCLEX yet...... That being said, this review is for CONTENT....You can't answer the questions right if you don't know your stuff, right? It pulled everything together I learned in nursing school and condensed it down, making it easier to remember and understand. Hope that helps!
  5. Try researching vaso-vagal syncope and neurocardiogenic syncope. It is inherited, so probably you know one of your parents has passed out in the past. As you have learned in nursing school already, certain things can trigger a vaso-vagal response and anxiety in a medical situation is a popular one. Try to remember how you felt before you passed out so that you can recognize the signs when if it is about to happen again in the future. There are things you can do to avoid passing out if you can catch the feeling early! If you are standing for a long period of time, such as observing, try squeezing your butt cheeks repeatedly (I am NOT making this up!! :) ) and it will get some blood back up to your head. Of course if you feel the signs of "impending doom", you need to get out of that situation or take a seat! If you are past "the point of no return", then you know you need to lay yourself down on the floor quickly where you are to avoid injury from a fall. It is my understanding that the sooner and more often you re-expose yourself to the same situation, you will become less anxious and not have problems in the future. Observe again at your first opportunity and this time, plan a way out. Knowing you can exit during observation will be the first step to preventing it from happening in the future! Hope this helps....

http://www.nln.org is the website. You might have to register, but it's in there. Let us know how you did!
  7. I think you have an excellent plan! I did the same thing, had the math prep classes, took it slow, kept a 4.0 and I just got accepted into nursing school for this fall. I had so much fun in my classes, used the professor rating website to help me pick my teachers, and so far I have loved every minute of it! I hope your journey is as great as mine has been! Good luck!
  8. I am in a basic chemistry class now, and it's the last pre-req I have to take. I was terrified of it, but since I have a good professor, it turned out to be one of my favorite classes. Our class is mostly basic algebra calculations. I would be totally and completely lost if I had not taken MAT1033 first.
  9. @wkbonesteel, good to see you online! How did you ever guess it was me? haha :) Okay so I kinda figured speculation could be dangerous, but oh how fun it is! At this point the mailman thinks I have some kind of crush on him as I always run out to greet him!
  10. Okay this is going to drive some people crazy but I think it's funny.... Last semester the deadline to apply was Sept 10 and they got their letters on Oct 2. This year, March 10. If you take April 2 and add the 7 days they were closed, that makes it April 9. Hmmmmm, I am especially interested in tomorrow's mail, but I won't even be able to check it until later in the day!!! I will be checking this message board, though! LOL! If we get nothing, I will just be checking the mail every single day. I honestly think if not tomorrow, then sometime next week for sure! You are not the only one stalking the mailman!

Which section did you get your lowest score? For reading/vocab, I would buy other study guides besides the ones you have and take practice tests. Also, NLN has free practice tests online that you can take. I took all of them! When I got a low score or timed out, I hit the books again before I retried online. For math, I used all the study guides to solve the math problems. I did it over and over until I didnt make any mistakes. For science, well, I already said it. If you didnt take chem and physics already, you have to teach yourself. I also saw a lot of questions on electric circuits.
  12. Thank you! I'm still anxious though. At 184, I think you have a good chance. My fingers are crossed for all of you! :loveya:

Oh yes, I figured out that memorizing vocabulary words doesnt really help, because you could spend time memorizing 3,000 words and maybe those arent the ones on the test! Time spent reading the NLN guide for test taking strategies is more valuable so you can learn to use process of elimination on the vocab word part if you need to. Really, time spent on chemistry and physics would probably make a huge difference.

I used the one published by NLN. That is the main one to study, and the most helpful. However, I have a lot of others (I know, I was overly concerned about passing) and if I could choose one of the others it would be the McGraw-Hill because it covers physics like wavelengths (at least 4 questions?). All the guides were helpful for math. Conversions between fractions-decimals-percentages are critical! I never saw so many questions on that at once! You can never have too many study guides, because the more you practice, the more you will get right!
  15. My score is 206, due to the fact that all my pre-reqs are done except chemistry which I am in now.....
