Hello fellow potential UFV Nursing students,
I have completed my application for Fall 2018 BSN intake and I thought that I would start a thread for open discussions, what marks everyone is applying with, concerns and such. Good luck to everyone!
no this is a statement, the instructor said something along the lines like
that would be in a sense cheating, You should be able to figure out where you may have lost points when looking over the BSN entrance scoring guide. There are 39 points I believe? And each of them has categories, I wish you the best of luck in the next intake if you do not get in for fall don't give up!
I have no experience with this. I understood from somebody that when you didn't get accepted they told you what to work on. Like higher grades or more volunteer experience etc.
I don't know if they used to tell you and now they don't or what?
Yup 39 points and different categories.
Thanks, definitely not giving up.
God willing I'll still get in, its in his hands.
Hey! I sent in my application for the January 2019 intake (first time applicant!) and was wondering if when you guys wrote down your volunteer experience if you also wrote down non-health care volunteer experience? I have over 1000 hours with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Canadian Red Cross and other organizations combined. I only have about 60 from the hospital I volunteer at. Anyways, what did you guys do? I want them to capture the full scale of my volunteer experiences :) also, I applied with a 3.83 GPA.. does anyone know if that is particularly competitive or no? Thanks so much, and kind regards to all!
I believe you're only supposed to include relevant volunteer experience (hospitals, patient care, etc.). I didn't include my 4 years of volunteer experience with the Canadian cancer society but I think you could include it if you wanted! 3.83 is competitive. I think that's the minimum though, most that I've talked to applied with a 4.0 GPA but I think you'd still get an invite to the info session.
I agree with Kiwin. They only ask for health care related volunteer experience. You definitely can include other volunteer experience if you want too.
I didn't included any volunteer experience at all. Because I only have work experience at a health care facility.
I have been volunteering for over 6 years at other multiple places but didn't think they'd care so I didn't bother mentioning it, maybe I'm wrong maybe it would've helped, who knows?
As for the GPA the closer you are to 4.0 the better, but it really depends on the other applicants for your intake and how high all their GPA's are.
The GPA points aren't everything if you kill the essay and interview you got a great chance!
Good luck!

May 9th told I wasn't accepted but put on waiting list
