UFV Sept 2013

Published

I am starting a thread for UFV, Sept 2013 applicants (thus the title)

I am a Jan 2013 reject and hoping for a spot in the fall. Is anyone here a repeat applicant?

Congrats dragonflygrrl!! See if you can find the Facebook page and join!

Sorry guys! I just realized its "UFV BSN 2013 Fall Intake".

I can't find it :(

KimberS, did you search for the one that has "fall intake" in it?

Ok yay! I'm glad it worked! Now everyone else go look for it!

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to say thank you for everyone who has been sharing their thoughts and feelings on this page. Though I did not comment until now on this thread I was reading your comments and going through the same experiences and feelings as you. This is/was my second time applying, I have 2A's, a B+ and a B, and have hundreds of hours of work experience as a Care Aide. I had my interview and thought it went well but when my status didn't change right away, like many of you, I was crushed. I was away for the long weekend, (it was a great distraction) and just checked in to see how you all were doing. When I saw some of the posts I frantically checked my UFV account to find I am also "conditionally accepted" for the fast track program!!! I practically have no voice right now from screaming my face off!! I am so excited to meet you all in September :-).

Thanks again everyone for sharing!

P.S. I am trying to find the facebook page and searched "UFV BSN 2013 Fall Intake" but nothing comes up. Is it because it's a closed group?

Congrats Bigdreamss!!! I definitely know how you would have felt seeing that acceptance, it was definitely a shock for me too!

As for the Facebook group, KimberS was able to find it (not sure if she did anything specific to find it??). It says with a closed group anyone should be able to search for it, but the posts aren't public. But I've seen on other threads that people have had issues. I'll see if I can pm you the link and see if that works, just give me a couple minutes to figure it out!

I have a predicament regarding my holidays for this year and was wondering if any of you could give me advice before I bring it up with UFV for their opinion. I have 2 vacations planned for the fall, a one week cruise to Alaska in September with mine and my partner's families, and a one week trip to Mexico in November for a wedding in which I am a brides maid. My partner and I have pretty much decided that we have made the commitment to my friend and have to go to the wedding, and that we will most likely cancel the cruise. I am 100% dedicated to the program and don't want this to sound like I am not, but how detrimental wold it be to miss 1 week, possibly 2?? I talked to a friend who has been through the fast track program and she said that most instructors are very understanding but it would depend on clinical. I have until mid June to cancel the cruise and get fully refunded... I guess I am just hanging on to the possibility we could still go, but like I said, the program is number 1. I know it sounds selfish to want it all... any thoughts?

I've got the same sort of predicament. I also have a destination wedding to go to at the end of May, 2014. I figured it would work perfectly with school, until I saw that I've been accepted to the fast-track program. And I've seen on other threads that 2nd year for fast track starts around the 3rd week of May (right on the week of the wedding).

I'm holding out worrying about it until I know the schedule for sure, but it's a close friend and I can't see myself missing the wedding. I talked to her about the situation, and she said she knows people in the bsn program at ufv who have taken multiple weeks off for vacation (not in a row, of course) and they have had no issues doing so. But I can see how it would be an issue missing clinical. As of now I was thinking of maybe working out my flights so that I don't miss clinical, but I can't really plan until I know the schedule for sure.

So as far as I've heard, I THINK you would be ok taking a week off. Although I think it's probably safer to cancel the Alaska trip, especially in the first month of school. If it helps at all, I did the Alaskan cruise last September, and as nice as it was, it was the last one of the year due to weather, and I completely understand why. I have never been more seasick in my life (I couldn't even eat because the ship was rocking so bad). And not to mention, the Alaska scenery is identical to BC...once you've seen one, you've seen both! ;) (Haha I'm working my hardest to make the decision easier for you).

Best bet, like you said, would be to contact UFV. If you end up finding anymore info, let me know. I'm curious how time off in the program would work. And don't worry, it doesn't seem at all like you're not motivated for the program. I'm sure we were all making alternative plans considering how hard it is to get in, and it's not always easy to back out of those plans.

I can't find the group!
