UF BSN to DNP 2017

Published

Starting a thread for those applying to the BSN to DNP program at UF for Fall 2017!

I have my BS in Psychology from UF, and will be finishing up my RN to BSN at UF in August. Currently, I have a little over 1 year of experience as a Critical Care nurse.

I'll be applying for the Psychiatric-Mental Health track. :)

Does anyone know if they happen to accept GRE scores that are over 5 years old? I know the scores typically expire after that time. I took it 6 years ago and got a pretty decent score, so I would LOVE to not have to study for it again!

Looking forward to everyone's responses!!!! :)

murse93, I scored a few points below the requirement on the grammar section and a few points above the math section. I also had a 3.48 GPA. I can not speak for the family track, but I am in the Acute Care peds track. I am second semester, so we are all clumped together for the first and second semester. Some of my profs take a poll on who is in which track. There seems to be at least 10-15 more students in the FNP track than any of the other tracks in all of my classes. Not sure if this is because there is more chairs for the FNP track due to high demand or what. Anyways, seeing that I got in with similar stats (1 1/2 years level 1 neuro/trauma ICU, 1 year level 1 ED, 3 years level 1 ED as a Tech, our academics are similar) and there seems to be an quite a bit more FNP chairs, you have nothing to lose. I also did my undergrad at a very college in Missouri, Cox College. So small, there is not an athletic department. We have a shirt that says undefeated since 1907. So I thought I did not have a shot aside from my great experience. I did write a killer admissions letter and provided more than enough letters of reference, even from a peds psych boarding school before I did inpatient care. Make sure to write about all volunteer work and any work you plan on doing as an FNP in underserved communities. As well as working in a peds ICU, I plan on providing care within an orphanage here in Florida, so I made sure to emphasize my desire to serve the underserved. But don't make anything up, people can see through BS. Anyways, be blessed and good luck! Go gators!

Thank you so much for responding. I also applied for the FNP track. I know that you're in the Peds track, but how are your classes going so far? How are you liking the program?

I applied to the FNP track for Fall 2018. Still haven't heard back from them. I did get accepted into the DNP program at USF, turned down Nova. Hopefully we hear something soon.

I really hope to hear something from UF soon. USF process was very quick and they replied before their deadline. I got a good feeling we won't hear from them until well into March or April. I started a thread UF BSN DNP 2018, if you want to jump over there and wait with the rest of us!

Thank you and sure will

Does anyone know if prerequisite courses expire? I recently contacted a school that I'm interested in and they said no, but I am not sure that is true for most schools. I did my first bachelors degree (BS in biology) back in 2004-2006 so my prereqs are old. I am already a BSN (degree in 2013) with two years of experience.

Thanks!

Hi!!  Just looking for some input ? I applied with around 4 years of good experience in various great hospitals... did volunteering etc but my GPA when graduating my BSN is just above the 3. The gre was waived due to covid... is there any hope? I’m stressed because It s likeanother more month before hearing back!! I volunteered locally abroad completed a level one trauma residency plus PICU experience and traveling as a PICU RN at teaching facilities as well. Got good recommendation letters from a DNP, PA etc. Thanks!!
