UF BSN to DNP Fall 2020

Published

Hi everyone! Who else is applying for Fall 2020 DNP? I applied for part-time PNP program. I can't wait for decisions to come out!!

Anyone hear if they may give out acceptance letters early due to COVID? I just received an acceptance to my other schools very early. UF is my number one and this is just killing me! I tried to find student data from previous years and for 2019 for the graduate level it stated 42 people applied but only 9 were accepted into the college of nursing. That couldn’t possibly be accurate right? Good luck everyone and stay safe out there!

Oh my gosh it would be so nice if they would send out letters early! Everything is so crazy right now, this would be great news to get. I don’t think that is accurate but I guess it could be for one of the specific programs like adult acute care, peds acute care, etc.

Stay safe, Sirij!

Anyone hear any updates?

I have a feeling things will be delayed even more because of all this COVID madness going on.

There won't be any updates until Late April or eary may. I am very doubtful COVID will delay acceptance letters. If anything, it may create an increased likelihood of admission due to the rising need of APRN in this crisis. I won't be shocked to see them increase admission spots. But that sentiment is optimistic, we will see. There will be tons more online classes now at least that is good.

Thanks for making this post! I applied to the part time acute care adult gerontology DNP.

I have 2 years of step down nursing. ABSN GPA was 3.35. GRE Verbal 150 and Math 143. Not awful, but not great. Hopefully other parts of my application make up for what is lacking. I have a couple of scholarships, honors, and a certification under my belt.

Wishing everyone the best ?

Hi everyone,

I applied to the BSN to DNP full time FNP program for this coming August. I retook the GRE since I wasn't happy with the initial results. I scored much better the second time around so it was well worth the effort (especially if I get accepted).

I have heard back from other schools but holding my breath to get into UF. From what other feeds had it seems like answers come at the end of April to the first week of May.

Good luck to us all.

Hey! I don’t think decisions will be delayed. On time or early if anything. The other schools I applied to have let me know early. To be honest, I accepted one but will back out if I get UF. They are my top choice by far. Wishing everyone the best of luck! I feel you all have pretty strong applications, scores aren’t everything. I think the essay and experiences will hold a lot of weight; at least I hope so ??

I retook the GRE also and submitted with 147/148 . terrible really but I dont care. I'll take my chances and pray for the best. Looking forward to hearing back soon. Hope everyone is safe. How did everyone format their essay or what did they talk about? And does anyone know how difficult the program

I wrote about the life experiences that lead me to nursing, why DNP specifically, my experience, and my overall goals. Basically just answered all the questions they wanted us to address. I did it in more of a story format. Those scores aren’t bad! I didn’t get much higher. I’m so looking forward to hearing back!! Good luck!

I scored 158/149. I am above their minimum needed on both but I think they look at the whole person. I don't know how they weigh or score the applicants. Nursing is a second career for me and I'm a full time student. So, I had to rely on my experience RN volunteering post graduation and past experiences. I stuck to answering the questions since we had the word limit to stick to.

I'm most curious how they teach the subjects. Some schools are essentially - teach yourself, and others are video recorded. I have not been able to speak to anyone who has gone through the DNP program.

Has anyone heard anything !?!
