Starting a thread for anyone who's applying or applied to University of Florida's BSN to DNP Program Fall 2018. I applied for their FNP track.

Anyone here on the same boat as me?

I applied to UF for several reasons actually. First of all, their upstanding reputation academically in general. Additionally, they have an all online program which I have found in my own experience to make things much more flexible and just all around easier to do coursework in my own timeframe. I do have several friends that have gone through UF when the NP program was a MSN instead of a DNP and additionally, I currently have a friend in the DNP program. My friend who is in the DNP program now says the professors are helpful with questions and assisting the students with "figuring things out". She did say last year's applicant pool was huge and did recommend applying to back-up schools.

Thank you so much @khemi for your reply. I know several people as well that graduated from UF's MSN program and they really enjoyed their time there. A big factor for me is tuition and the flexibility of having an online program; which is why I'm staying in Florida. I already got my backup school! Looking to move in the Central Florida region this summer and I'm already interviewing for jobs so I can relocate before the semester begins!

Where in Central Florida are you looking to move to @thywillbedone_? My husband and I are also planning on moving back to the Gainesville area upon selling our home. He is from there and his mom and other family still live there. Additionally our daughter is at UF so although that does not have bearing to our decision of moving back to the area, it is certainly a nice perk. Knowing so many NP's in Gainesville I am optimistic with getting my preceptors lined up for clinicals. I agree that the tuition cost is a huge perk to staying in-state as well. Staying in-state and attending a public university also affords the opportunity to do BSN to DNP instead of attending an online private university and doing the MSN track.

That's awesome that you have a place to move back! I'm actually thinking about moving to Lakeland. I have a part-time business that's based in Orlando so I can go to our office time to time. I've been accepted to USF for their BSN to DNP program, so if I don't get in UF then at least I'm close enough to Tampa. I'm nervous that UF decisions will be late and I'm already looking at jobs and apartments. But that's the beauty of it being online. Yes in-state tuition beats private universities. I applied to Johns Hopkins (accepted) and Duke (waiting for decision) but their tuition fees are just out of this world.

I also applied to the BSN to DNP FNP track. They are just waiting on my GRE scores. Already got accepted into the DNP program at USF and declined Nova. Hopefully UF process is faster once the deadline has passed

So you're thinking between USF, UF and UNF?

Wow @thywillbedone_! Congratulations to you! Those are some amazing programs to be accepted to. I have applied to FSU also and currently am scheduled for an interview in 2 weeks. We currently live in the Sarasota area and UF offering an all online program is really nice because I do not have to stress about the timeline of selling our home, etc. FSU has a satellite campus in Sarasota that I can attend as well which decreases the stress as well. I have some good connections here with NP's, but ultimately we want to be back in the Gainesville area. Luckily with family close by up there we can take time to find the right house too because worst case scenario we would store our furniture until we find it.

So how would you do Johns Hopkins or Duke? Would you move up there or what are their programs like?

Thank you! Johns Hopkins is a hybrid program. You would have to get your eCompact license and move up there by January next year. Duke is an online program and they help you find clinical placements in your own area, but you have to hunt for your own preceptors I believe for the most part and some visits to campus.

Has anyone heard of anything yet? I am not sure when we are supposed to hear back from UF but it seems like it is pretty late compared to other schools in the area.

I sent an email to my assigned advisor this week and she said late April to early May we will be given decisions as they will only begin reviewing applications in the next couple weeks.

Thanks for responding!

Hey! I applied to UF's BSN-DNP FNP full-time program in Fall 2018. I'm excited but becoming more anxious awaiting the decision!

Hey guys! I applied to UF's BSN-DNP pediatric primary care program for Fall 2018. I'm also very anxious about decisions! I hope we hear back sooner than later. How were you all's GRE scores? Any previous nursing experience?

I'm super anxious so I ended up emailing the graduate advisor a few days ago and she reaffirmed that decisions would not go out until late April to early May. I guess we are stuck waiting it out. :( I went into the GRE the first time without studying and boy, that joker was serious! I didn't get the minimum verbal on the first try but after a month of studying and completing a GRE prep course I took it again and got a 154 Verbal and 150 Quantitative. Did anyone else have to take it more than once? I have almost two years of nursing experience between a med-surg floor, the ED, and pediatrics. How about you guys?
