UF Accelerated Nursing 2016

Published

Hi, everyone!

I figured I'd get a thread started for everyone applying to the Accelerated Nursing Program at UF for Summer 2016. I know this thread was done last year, so it'd be nice to continue the tradition and help each other as potential Gator Nurses next year!

I'm currently looking to apply to UF, but I'm also debating other schools in Florida. However, I've only taken the GRE, and I would still need to take the other exam that the other schools require as well. How does everyone else feel about their application?

Not sure of the class size, but sometimes it can be a hassle finding parking at UF. UF has an excellent but transit system, so you can pretty much get to campus that way as well. Bikes are good though for getting around campus. I had a bike when I was a student there. I know that the building where the nurses have classes is in a building down the hill at the Health Professions/Nursing/Pharmacy (HPNP) complex cause that was where my friend who was a nursing undergrad major had her classes and I also had my health classes there. However, it wasn't far from parking or anything so that shouldn't be a worry. I was pretty much able to walk through the whole campus without a bike and was fine though.

How do you know whether it is for Gainesville or Jacksonville? My acceptance email didn't specify. I see the Gainesville address in the letterhead, but I thought that's because it's the main campus.

I got into Emory's program as well but was wait listed for UFs! Don't know how that makes any sense but oh well. Are you waiting to hear from any other programs? I can't decide if I want to commit to Emory or not!

It is a hard time to be wait listed. Anyone have any internal information?

I also got into Emory!

I feel like a ton of people are wait listed, including me!

I wonder the stats of people they accepted, my last 60 credits were a 4.0 as well as my pre-reqs and I have experience working in the health care field. So congratulations to all who were accepted. I know this program is very competitive. For those of us who were wait listed, hopefully one or two of us may get in!

Is anyone that got accepted into the Gainesville campus looking for roommates for the summer or fall?

Anyone have any suggestions of where to live in Gainesville??

Hey, which campus did you apply to? I have the same gpa as you and my overall gpa from my undergrad was a 3.82! I was going the PA route before I saw the difference between a NP and Pa. I was 2 classes short of having all the prereqs for Pa school when I realized this was the path I wanted to go so I had a lot of upper level science classes. Also, I had really good references( both were doctors). One I shadowed and the other was my teacher from college who has published research! I also won the science award for my department during my senior year. I feel like references and the personal statement were graded upon heavily! I hope you get in! There is definitely a good possibility you'll get in! Keep your hopes up :)

What apartments are you looking at?

Me! I was just about to post asking if anyone was. Here's my e-mail, it might be easier to talk about it that way: [email protected]

I created a Facebook group for anyone that is accepted into the Gainesville program. I figure it will be easier to find roommates and ask/answer questions instead of it getting lost on here!

The group is called: UF ABSN Class of 2017- Gainesville https://www.facebook.com/groups/1573926592929904/
