UF Accelerated Nursing 2016

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi, everyone!

I figured I'd get a thread started for everyone applying to the Accelerated Nursing Program at UF for Summer 2016. I know this thread was done last year, so it'd be nice to continue the tradition and help each other as potential Gator Nurses next year!

I'm currently looking to apply to UF, but I'm also debating other schools in Florida. However, I've only taken the GRE, and I would still need to take the other exam that the other schools require as well. How does everyone else feel about their application?

Hi,I am also planning on applying for UF summer 2016, I am currently a Psychology and Criminology senior at FL State. I am taking the GRE in 2 weeks (took the TEAS V in August did ok but not amazingly since I took it in the summer taking 19 credits and had little time to devote to much studying for it). I was wondering if you had ANY information about the application process because the website is not much help besides prerequisites, resume, references, GRE, etc. The NursingCAS website application is unavailable as well but states it is due Jan 6th (that is 4 months away for a lot of stuff). Any information you have would be awesome. P.S. the TEAS V is no joke definitely study the science section because there are like 9 different subtypes of science on there, it was my worse score (70.3%). Overall I made a 78% with scores in the 80's and 90's on other sections. I took it to apply for UTHSCSA's accelerated program as well I hope one of them let's me in or I will have to take a semester off and do a traditional program 😯 good luck!

Hi I am also planning on applying to the Accelerated program. Did you all notice that the GRE is NOT required anymore for acceptance into the program?

I noticed that as well! I found it both relieving and anxiety-inducing. I'm a current UF student and I don't have any experience working in the nursing field, so I would have appreciated using a good GRE score to boost my application. :sorry:

I wish I had checked out this forum earlier. I took the GRE test yesterday and then found out it is not required any more. If I knew that before I might spend my time volunteering in hospital. Anyway I won't regret, I will just volunteer in the spring as planned.

Sorry,post it twice.

Hey y'all! I am excited about this thread! I am currently a student at UF studying Health Education and Behavior. I finished my application, but I haven't finalized it yet on NursingCAS. I am also nervous about not having the GRE as a requirement. That puts even more pressure on my GPA. I just took the TEAS today to apply to UNF and UCF. What other schools are you guys applying to?

I guess those with excellent clinical experiences will stand out, however, majority will have either no or little clinical experiences.

I've already applied as a post-bac early in November. Did other people apply to that earlier? How do we know if that went through? Almost done with the application for the nursing school just waiting my professional letter of reference? Did other people get bosses or who else did you get for the professional letter? Super excited and hope to have a strong application even without the GRE.

Hey blue coyote. I actually had the same questions about the post bac application. I'm probably going to call admissions this week to find out if they received my app and the overall process. Can't trust snail mail lol.

As for the letter of recommendation I also had my boss write the professional letter but I'm pretty sure a coach, pastor or even a professional mentor would work

Hey guys! I too am applying, I am just waiting for my two references to complete their letters. Did any of you send your nursingCAS application before your references were complete?
