Hello everyone,
I have already gotten extremely worried about the UF ABSN application process even before it starts! So here I am creating a thread to share my concerns with you all who may be on the same boat with me.
At the moment, my biggest concern is that my overall undergraduate GPA (which is from a foreign country) is embarrassingly low (under 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) and my upper division GPA is probably even lower, due to my lack of seriousness during my undergraduate studies. BUT, when I came to the US for my Master's degree at FIU, I became more serious with school and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.85. I did read that UF website states only GPA from the most recent 60 credit hours or cumulative GPA from Master's or PhD is calculated for admission criteria, nonetheless, I am still very concerned that overall GPA from all colleges attended will be taken into account, and my undergraduate GPA would have dragged me down.
I am currently working part-time at a home health company as a CNA while taking my pre-requisites, so far I am straight A's and have Microbiology in the Fall and A&PII in the Spring left to be finished. I have no idea how much chance I stand for the UF accelerated program but it is my only hope and dream because all other Universities require a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
I would really appreciate it if anyone can share their thoughts with me. Thank you!
I talked to Kenneth today... he said BEFORE the 28th. So... there's that!
I'm extremely anxious because I have two kids that I need to make arrangements for. We live within an hour of UF and I commuted for a few semesters as an undergrad a few years ago, and so I am going to try to make commuting work again. But that means I need to get spots secured in preschools form my children, as well as summer camps for the older child, in Gainesville, as soon as possible! So I called Kenneth today just to see if there was any word on decisions and if he had any contact info on Baby Gator, and he gave me that small nugget of information.
So on a separate note, if anyone has any recommendations for childcare in Gainesville, let me know! My daughter will be four, so she will be going into pre-k, and my son will be turning one in April. I am a teacher so I am a little picky, but most of all I want them to be in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment!
O2B is decent, depending on the location. I used to work there and honestly, you would be surprised what happens behind closed doors. The location I would recommend is on Archer Rd. because they have a new facility director, her name is Jennifer or Jenn and honestly she is the best thing to ever happen to them. I used to work with her and as her sons teacher as well. Amazing woman all around AND she won first place as Alachua County's Preschool age teacher or something like that. She is well known and like i said unbelievably amazing!!! Hunters Crossing's location would be my next best choice for O2B but they're on the other side of town. Archer Rd location is closer to the University anyways.
Agreed. I am freaking out like crazy. I have received 2 emails with the word Admissions in them today and both were false alarms (1 from a backup school to say they received my application and 1 from an old school of mine). I nearly had a heart attack both times. We are taking a family trip to Disney next week and I'm not sure I want to find out there lol.

Definitely taking longer than I had anticipated! I'm thinking did they really have that many more applicants this year than last year, which would explain why it's taking so long... I hope not!!!
