UF Accelerated BSN 2017

Published

Hello everyone,

I have already gotten extremely worried about the UF ABSN application process even before it starts! So here I am creating a thread to share my concerns with you all who may be on the same boat with me.

At the moment, my biggest concern is that my overall undergraduate GPA (which is from a foreign country) is embarrassingly low (under 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) and my upper division GPA is probably even lower, due to my lack of seriousness during my undergraduate studies. BUT, when I came to the US for my Master's degree at FIU, I became more serious with school and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.85. I did read that UF website states only GPA from the most recent 60 credit hours or cumulative GPA from Master's or PhD is calculated for admission criteria, nonetheless, I am still very concerned that overall GPA from all colleges attended will be taken into account, and my undergraduate GPA would have dragged me down.

I am currently working part-time at a home health company as a CNA while taking my pre-requisites, so far I am straight A's and have Microbiology in the Fall and A&PII in the Spring left to be finished. I have no idea how much chance I stand for the UF accelerated program but it is my only hope and dream because all other Universities require a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can share their thoughts with me. Thank you!

I have created a group for the Gainsville Campus. In order to start the group I had to add at least one of my current FB friends which I did.

With that said, I am hoping this link should work. UF Accelerated Nursing Class of 2018 Gainsville"

Let start with that, I'll come back shortly and fix it that didn't work.

Hey all, I made the group for the Gainsville Campus. Just search/join "University of Florida Accelerated Nursing Class of 2018" on facebook, and it should show. I'll have to confirm you initially, then should be able to add/confirm new members once you join.

Hi! I got wait listed and still haven't heard back since the initial email. Fingers crossed!

Hey don't worry UF waitlisters. There's some kids over on the UCF forum who were accepted to UF who seem like they're going to turn down UF and go to UCF instead

Hi all! I'm waitlisted too! I was actually initially rejected but had a face-to-face with Kenneth Wynn, and it turns out they made an error reviewing my application (they did not look at my masters GPA, only my undergrad), so they put me on the waitlist for now. I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed! He actually told me that they had a lot of admitted students drop their seats right up until orientation last year, so don't completely count yourself out if you don't hear soon! Good luck to everyone :)

Hi!

I'm just finding this forum so I'm going to go ahead and join in so I don't miss any information! I just got into the Jacksonville campus. I've lived in Jax my whole life so if anyone needs any help finding a good place to live I can help!

Has anyone made a facebook group for the Jacksonville campus?

Also, has anyone heard anything on how to pay the deposit?

You guys should find us on our fb group we created. There are a lot who are thinking about living together.

Just got a call from Kenny offering me a spot at Gainesville campus!! I think they're reaching out to wait listers today! Good luck everyone still waiting!

Our fb page is UF Accelerated Nursing Jacksonville 2017

Hi y'all! I am mostly writing this for the people who will be checking it in the future (that's You UF ABSN Summer 18 applicants!). I was first wait listed and got the call yesterday (Friday March 10th) that a spot was available in Gainesville! I (obviously) accepted immediately and will be attending UF CON. My advice to the future UF CON ABSN applicants is to not worry or stress about getting in but to trust that what happens, happens. That being said I'll leave some of my stats here for reference. (Also note that every year the applicant pool is different so comparing stats to mine and others in these past threads might not actually mean anything). I will graduate from UF with a BS in Health Education (go HHP!) with upper division GPA of 3.76 (cum laude honors) and overall GPA of 3.50. I also have my EMT certification which I am sure helped. Good luck everyone!

Hey everyone! I was also initially waitlisted and got a call on the 10th for admission! Super excited for May!

Congrats to everyone who has recently received admission notices ! Just a friendly reminder the for Gainsville students our facebook group is titled "University of Florida Accelerated Nursing Class of 2018"
