Hello Everyone!
I'm getting this forum started early for those who are applying to the UF College of Nursing's Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program!
Feel free to get the discussion going... How do you stand among others (GRE, GPA, etc)? Go Gators! :)
Let's hope the post office is swift and doesn't lose any packages. They initially lost my application package but ended up finding it. So, the mail will ship to Jax first for sorting and then will come back to Gainesville for those living here. We should hear something at least by next week. Which puts us around the same time as the last class heard. ( March 8th was the first sign of them.)
Hello,
I am new to this website and will like some input from students or potential students that will be heading to a accelerated nursing program. I have B.S. in Biology but have decided to pursue a career in nursing. My stats are as follows:
3.1 cum gpa ( I did horrible the first couple of years and it took me almost 7 years to get my degree)
3.3 last 60 credits
4.0 in pre reqs ( for accelerated nursing program)
I'm currently working for a university as a research associate under an NIH supplement grant that was awarded to me. I have co authored 2 research papers but I am afraid that all of this will mean nothing to a nursing program. I have around 200 hrs of shadowing and will continue to do so until I apply. What are my chances of getting into a program? Is there anything else that I can do to strengthen my application?
Thank you so much for you help!!
@lydia16 that all sounds great to me! Definitely more geared toward the nursing field than my relatively irrelevant humanities degree (ha). I'm not sure how much different components weigh vs. others for UF, but if I were you, I wouldn't be discouraged in the slightest. Any other opinions?
Everyone else, would it be too optimistic to expect letters in Gainesville today?
