Hello Everyone!
I'm getting this forum started early for those who are applying to the UF College of Nursing's Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program!
Feel free to get the discussion going... How do you stand among others (GRE, GPA, etc)? Go Gators! :)
I heard the total class consists of 60-75 students. That they accept like 50 and waitlist another 25. UF students about to graduate in the Spring get a chance to enter into the 25 spots. But if, let's say, 10 come in then they will accept the first 15 off the waitlist. If they send me a rejection letter I am going to appeal it. I have a friend who works with someone who graduated from the program and he initially got rejected for a GPA of 2.9 but he got really high scores on GRE. He appealed it and got in. I heard at least 300 applied. I wonder how many are already nurses ( LPN)? Ugh. I wish they could just e-mail the decision. It would take less time.

What? I am confused. Can you clarify?
I don't understand what you mean by 10 coming in and accepting the first 15 off the waitlist.
I thought that there was a waitlist separate from the 60-75 students who are accepted. And then the spots of the people who choose not to attend are given to the people who are waitlisted?
So for instance, I thought: 60-75 are conditionally accepted, but 15 people choose to attend other universities/ colleges. So those 15 spots are given to the waitlisted people in the order that they are waitlisted...
This is what I heard from someone who attended two years ago. Maybe they messed it up or maybe it has changed but he said that there were a total of 75 total students who started. But that they sent out 50 acceptance letters and 25 wait list letters. That they left 25 spots open for UF spring grads and if they decided not to enter then they would pull from the wait list. But this is not from administration. Just someone who went through the program. Did you get your answer from administration? I thought you only got conditionally accepted if you were still taking pre-reqs and once you pass them then you move to full acceptance.
I just received an email from Ken Foote saying they were reviewing my application and were noticing some missing items. I got on the phone with him and then send the items to him. It looks like the wheels are turning over there. In the email I asked if he had a better idea when decisions would go out and if they'd come by email or snail mail.

I believe all students are "conditionally accepted" regardless of pre-reqs because everyone has to pay the deposit and get their immunizations, background check, etc. before starting the program.
In regards to waitlist I did not hear anything from administration, and that is why I stated "I thought"!
So what you're saying is that those 25 waitlist spots were for UF spring grads (not including current alumni) correct? Maybe I am missing something, but the math doesn't add up. If UF CON accepted a total of 75 students, and 50 are accepted +25 are waitlisted, wouldn't that mean that the people who are waitlisted are automatically accepted with the others? And say for instance that 5 out of the 50 acceptances decided not to attend, who would fill those 5 slots?
