Hi all!
It's pretty early on but I'd love to meet and chat with the potential applicants for this program. I also think it'd be great to have this forum in case we stumble upon application questions and such. Maybe some successful applicants in the past may pop in to say hello as well!
What are your feelings about this program or even UF in general? Are you applying to other programs? Where are you from?
For Jax campus:
1. Hospital library only open on the weekday until 5pm. So if you want to study, you can either go to UNF library (gotta pay $5 for parking before 6:30pm on weekday) or go to local starbucks/Panera/whaever to study.
2. Well it is Jacksonville, so you will have to commute, stuck in traffic, fight for parking. Unless if you live around the hospital, which I do NOT recommend for the hospital is in the middle of dangerous zone of Jacksonville.
3. Do not expect similar stuffs with Gainesville campus. Meaning, Jax and GNV have different curriculum even though the classes are the same. Everything will be different, and you will see it if you decided to go to Jax.
4. Hope that you will have great group member. You will be assigned to a clinical group. This group will be your buddies/family throughout all nursing school. Be nice to them, they can either make your school bearable or hell. LOL!
Well.. the day is not over, yet! I give it till 5, and I have not got anything by then, I will probably stop checking my email...Maybe It is really nice to have this conversation going, it helps having people going through the same thing. Thank you, to the current students who are helping us understand what the program is like and for answering our questions.
Hopefully today is the day . I am not sure of the acceptance rate . That would be interesting information to know .
Based on the information we received, it will be a total of 112 students for both Jax and GNV campuses. I am not sure if this number is correct, but this is what one of the dean said.

They are probably postponing it until Wednesday. I do not know the reasons. I can't give you all anymore information, not sure if I am supposed to tell you guys anything last week about the decision on Monday.
There is a petition process that you can try, you should contact Kenneth Wynn and he will send you the information about petition.
There is a facebook group for each cohorts. What happened with mine is, once you know that you are accepted, usually someone in your cohort will create a facebook group and invite everyone that are accepted. One group for GNV, and one for JAX.
Work is definitely possible. In my cohort, there are couple who worked full time, part-time, and PRN. This semester I am working part-time at UF health Gainesville eventhough I am doing my nursing school at Jax campus. It is possible to work :)
Good luck y'all!
Will see some of y'all in the summer! :)
