I wanted to start an offical thread for those applying to UF's accelerated BSN for the Summer of 2021! I know its still pretty early but I thought we could use this platform to support one another and share our own journeys through this process.
I am pretty nervous for this process. However, UF's hollistic approach toward each of its applicants gives me hope and reassurance.
Just a little about myself
I am currently finishing my last semester at USF. My last 60 hr credit GPA is pretty average as per UF's usual standards standing at about a 3.4. My cumulative is not too great so hopefully I am not penalized for having a low overall GPA. I have research experience and a publication to my name so hopefully that may hold some weight. Besides that, I have a lot of various volunteer experiences that are non-health care related.
I was specifically curious to know how much weight health care experience holds for admissions. I worked as a scribe for about one year where I was able to gain perspective into the nursing field eventually influencing my decision to pursue nursing. Besides that, I don't really have very much experience working directly with nurses or CNA's for that matter.
I was also curious to know more about the HESI A2 test if anyone knows more about that.
I would love to hear about everyone elses stats and experiences, how you are going about the admissions process in general.
Update: I got offered a spot today at the Jax campus- feeling conflicted. I just sent a request to join the FB group ? Anyone who got in originally have thoughts on how the process has been over the past few weeks? Are you still feeling excited about going?

I think everything has gone pretty smoothly. The schedule is about to come out. We should be registered soon after. They’re just waiting on the clinical schedule. Ken has been emailing about once a week and he said he will be emailing much more frequently as it gets closer. I’m very excited about starting! Congrats on getting accepted. I’m at Jax too.

Good to know! I'm happy to hear there's been weekly updates. That's so helpful to know. Maybe I'll see you there! I have to let them know by Monday, so I'll know if that's the case very soon ?
I also got offered a spot at the Jacksonville campus today! I'm beyond excited!! Will someone explain to me what we need to do for Castle Branch? Do we need to purchase all of these things individually or does the first one listed include everything we need?

Wondering if anyone here is looking to relocate to Gainesville and is trying to find an apartment... I am leaving for Jacksonville so my Gainesville apartment would be available for May move in. It's a large 1/1 and about 15 min walk to HPNP and 10 min UF/Shands hospitals (cut that time by at least half if you bike). Great parking, amenities, management, etc. As a UF Health employee, the location has been a lifesaver for the past 2 years!
Kind of wish I specified for Gainesville campus so I could keep on living here, but life happens how it happens! DM if you or someone you know would like to hear more.
Hello! I am looking to apply to the ABSN program next year, but we have also been hoping to grow our family. Does anyone know if the program allows deferred enrollment if your circumstances change? Thanks!
