UF ABSN Summer 2021

Published

Hey all!

I wanted to start an offical thread for those applying to UF's accelerated BSN for the Summer of 2021! I know its still pretty early but I thought we could use this platform to support one another and share our own journeys through this process.

I am pretty nervous for this process. However, UF's hollistic approach toward each of its applicants gives me hope and reassurance.

Just a little about myself

I am currently finishing my last semester at USF. My last 60 hr credit GPA is pretty average as per UF's usual standards standing at about a 3.4. My cumulative is not too great so hopefully I am not penalized for having a low overall GPA. I have research experience and a publication to my name so hopefully that may hold some weight. Besides that, I have a lot of various volunteer experiences that are non-health care related.

I was specifically curious to know how much weight health care experience holds for admissions. I worked as a scribe for about one year where I was able to gain perspective into the nursing field eventually influencing my decision to pursue nursing. Besides that, I don't really have very much experience working directly with nurses or CNA's for that matter.

I was also curious to know more about the HESI A2 test if anyone knows more about that.

I would love to hear about everyone elses stats and experiences, how you are going about the admissions process in general.

Good luck to everyone applying this cycle!

I have stopped looking and have stopped refreshing my email. I know what the outcome is because all background checking is due tomorrow which is March 11th. This is such a shame, I am hurt, and cannot hold my tears back any longer. Best of luck to everyone and God bless you all. I will continue praying for those who have not heard anything back and for those who aren’t admitted, your time will come. ???

What background checking?

Once accepted, and having filled out the acceptance page, you are taken to a page with links and other info on requirements.  One of those requirements is CastleBranch.  You have to pay to have a background check, drug test, fingerprinting etc.  All of that is managed though CastleBranch. It's like NursingCAS.  You will pay a fee and they manage it all.

Congrats to everyone who got accepted! I’m still waiting for an email as well but I’m trying to keep my head up. No news doesn’t necessarily mean bad news! I really hope I get in and can call the rest of you classmates!

I only applied to Gainsville, but still no type of update. Gainsville accepts more people into their cohort than jax does, yet I've only seen like 4 people get into gville... something is up. Maybe they're sending them out in waves, but IDK it still isn't fair

I haven’t seen many who have gotten into Jax either. Only like 3? This is definitely weird

Right? And in all the years past they've sent denials AND acceptances at the same time. Another disaster!

Okay. I haven’t gone on and accepted it yet. Someone said it was due my March 11. I don’t even have to accept until March 15th it says in the email. I think I’ll logon today and get everything completed just in case.

They changed it to May 11th, I think it was a slip up in the thing

They changed it to May 11th for being due.

Hi everyone! I’ve been following along throughout this application process but this is my first comment. I got my acceptance email at 3:44pm to Gainesville. Had really convinced myself that I didn’t get in so don’t lose hope! Hoping everyone also gets good news and something is up as to why not everyone received an email. Looking forward to meeting everyone though!

Yeah, but still...even if I'm denied I would like to be treated like everyone else and not left out. This actually bugs me more than the wait itself.

I mean we have a right to, we filled out the application by the deadline like everyone else and I would expect to receive the same treatment ?

Hey, I just made a facebook group for the Gainesville campus!
