UF ABSN Summer 2021

Published

Hey all!

I wanted to start an offical thread for those applying to UF's accelerated BSN for the Summer of 2021! I know its still pretty early but I thought we could use this platform to support one another and share our own journeys through this process.

I am pretty nervous for this process. However, UF's hollistic approach toward each of its applicants gives me hope and reassurance.

Just a little about myself

I am currently finishing my last semester at USF. My last 60 hr credit GPA is pretty average as per UF's usual standards standing at about a 3.4. My cumulative is not too great so hopefully I am not penalized for having a low overall GPA. I have research experience and a publication to my name so hopefully that may hold some weight. Besides that, I have a lot of various volunteer experiences that are non-health care related.

I was specifically curious to know how much weight health care experience holds for admissions. I worked as a scribe for about one year where I was able to gain perspective into the nursing field eventually influencing my decision to pursue nursing. Besides that, I don't really have very much experience working directly with nurses or CNA's for that matter.

I was also curious to know more about the HESI A2 test if anyone knows more about that.

I would love to hear about everyone elses stats and experiences, how you are going about the admissions process in general.

Good luck to everyone applying this cycle!

I just wanna say that I’ve read about the disorganization in this program in previous threads and it’s finally being shed some light on. This has me SO turned off about the program; the fact that other schools give me a weekly update and the last I’ve heard was 2 months ago. I have to find somewhere to live, see if it’s even affordable, plan finances, etc. This was my top choice but after this I’m not sure anymore. This is an accelerated program and it’s already going to be heckin hard as it is ?

I can not agree with you less. But honestly, from my experience there isn't a perfect program, maybe unless it's a top-tier private school, I don't know. I've been reading about other programs, and it's just never perfect. But yeah, this is the shortest timeframe to find out about acceptance, I have ever heard...

I’ve heard similar things when I first applied back in 2019 and I felt the same, really turned off with zero updates and communications in what’s going on and if all my stuff is satisfactory. I just want them to Rip the Band-Aid off already

Here's to another week of stress and anxiety ??

As a current student at UF I can tell you they are super disorganized and really bad at giving information. I’ve been here for 3 years and I’m graduating this semester and it’s been SO hard getting info on graduation, let alone these stupid admission letters

I’m praying that the reason for the delay is because we’re all accepted. I hope the wait is worth it. ???

Ohhh man, I’ve contacted him twice via telephone, I don’t wanna aggravate the poor guy and then get declined for being irritating ?

I think it’s program specific. I was a student at the hough graduate school of business and the advisors and staff there were absolutely amazing. They were on top of everything, all the time. Possible that Covid is the cause for some of this. My baby brother, 13 years younger than me is a student at FSU and he is having a lot of issues as well this year as far as advisement and administrative stuff goes.

I have noticed that schools that I have spoken with in New England always lag with providing information. The employees tell me that they're working from home or only on campus a certain number of days a week, so it takes forever to receive an email back!
