I am to begin the LVN program at UEI the 2nd of November. I am very excited, but pretty discouraged about the financial end of it. The program is very expensive and I don't qualify for Federal Pell grant. Believe it or not 3 of us live on $2000. a month is Southern California. Been hit pretty hard by the economy and other factors.

UEI is not a 2 or 4 year college so I can't seem to find any scholarships or grants. I don't it me being 51 years old has any bearing on the lack of funds.

Any ideas about funding. Don't ask about credit. Like I said, been hit very hard by the economy.

Thanks for anyones help.

i just move to san diego an i was about to go to uei this summer since you going before me can you let me know what

's going on over there

hi all , i need help from you guys i just move to california sandiego in i'm about to go to lpn/lvn programs but i'm not sure with school to choose bethreen concorde career college or uei can someone help me witch the best cant wait for your answers

]My sister recently graduated from UEI under their Medical Assistant program and she's struggling to find work. I'd steer clear away from this college and search for another, she told me although she did well with UEI, graduating even with a 4.0 GPA isn't really saying much in the real world. From what she told me, the downside of UEI is that their networking with jobs isn't the greatest. I'd look into other colleges that are affiliated with hospitals, etc., that way your likelihood of landing a job is much easier. Good luck!

thank you long that's a big help so far

]Any time. Have you signed up to speak with a representative at Concorde College? I signed up for more information a few months ago with their Garden Grove campus, and decided against it due to the ridiculous tuition ($33,000) for the LVN program. From what I've read on the board, finding a job as an LVN new grad in CA is near impossible due to the economy. Realistically, $30,000+ in loans and the risk of not finding a job within 6 months before repayments doesn't sound like much of a feasible option to me. :stone That's the main reason why I didn't dip into Concorde College. If you're young and you have time like me, I'd advise you to take nursing prerequisites at a community college and then look into applying into a ADN/BSN program. This route will save you money and stress in the long run. Best of luck with your decisions though!

wow sounds realy expensive just for one year program ,i'm in chula vista i'll try to see if i got community college close to me .what u think about adult school ?

do you know how long to become a adn/bsn .

I agree with long, spending anything over $5000 for an LVN degree is not worth it at all in this economy. Get your prereqs done at a CC, study the bejesus out of them for A's, and either go into an LVN program at a CC or adult school or maybe even go for your RN.

Thanks for the response. But I posted the question in 2009 and did complete the first VN class in Nov. 2010. We graduated 21 Nov.10 and since we were the 1st VN class it was apparently a big deal. I enjoyed the class and the instructors. It was 11 months too and very fast paced. I was the classroom advocate, but was promoted to Secretary when our original secretary resigned. It was hard work, but worth every minute. Enjoy, and study hard!!
