Thanks! Interview went well. It was with two faculty members including the chair of the program. They were both very nice. I felt prepared for the most part because questions were related to the application. Anyone else have good news?

Have any of you applied to the pediatric NP program? I spoke with the director a few months ago and she said they will be reviewing applications in March but I'm wondering if anyone has any idea when they'll be releasing decisions? I'm reluctant to email and ask the school but I'm getting pretty antsy over here!

I didn't apply to the Peds NP program but I was under the impression everyone would know by April. A friend of mine actually called in and the woman she talked to was the one who sends out all the emails. She looked up her name and application specifically to tell her the status because it hadn't changed from "Application Complete". In their system all it said was "Screening" but I think they update theirs differently and then maybe send out emails when each specialty is completely done making decisions so at least all the areas know at the same time within their specialty.

My status update: One of the PMHNP faculty members emailed me late last night requesting to schedule a phone interview with me. Wow! I don't know what to expect!

Oh wow congrats! When is the interview? I applied for PMHNP but haven't heard anything yet. Do you know if they're interviewing everyone? Like if I don't get contacted for an interview that means I'm not getting accepted ?

I don't know if all the PMHNP applicants are being interviewed. I didn't expect to have this interview opportunity. What a surprise! My application was submitted before the priority deadline. This is the email I received from last night:

Greetings,

I am one of the faculty at UCSF in the PMHNP program. Your application has been reviewed and advanced to the interview process and I have the privilege of contacting you for a phone or Skype/FaceTime interview at your earliest convenience.

I am available tomorrow evening after 7pm or Tuesday anytime but 10-12. Would either of these days be possible for you? You may email or text me re: your availability.

I look forward to meeting you soon!

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing! I didn't know they were doing interviews at all either. Maybe I'll just call later this week if I still don't hear anything because I know I'll be going crazy haha.

I just got through a 20-30ish minute phone interview with one of the PMHNP facility members this morning. She was very nice, polite, soft spoken, and understanding. She has a very packed schedule. She appreciated my flexibility with her demanding schedule. Questions include my application, my psych experience, why I wanted to be a PMHNP, my understanding of the PMHNP role, expectations of the program, psychotherapy, and my future goals. I felt confident about the interview. She said all the PMHNP applicants will be interviewed and notified by early April via (e)mail. First day of school starts in September and the program can be completed 2 years full time. Although working while schooling is not encouraged, many students work part time while schooling full time.
