With just a few weeks to go before the application opens...
Any thoughts, questions, advice or information to share as we anxiously prepare?

Hey No_LiesJustLove, I am wondering the same thing! I would love to find out how many people are interviewing and how many spaces they have open. I don't know if it would be inappropriate to ask though!
I just watched this TED Talk that was posted on last year's forum. It's been really encouraging and motivating. I'm trying to prep by focussing on a positive mindset and building my confidence about the interview :) Amy Cuddy: Your body language shapes who you are | TED Talk | TED.com
If anyone wants to do a practice session with me over the phone tonight or tomorrow send me a text!

Great! I will watch this on the upcoming days. I think confidence is a huge issue for me. I feel like I have the qualifications and great experiences, but my anxiety will be what makes or breaks this interview for me ;-) Good luck prepping!

Hello, Everyone.
Congrats to everyone who go an interview! I heard some great things about the first group who came last weekend and interviewed. Good luck to those of you who have yet to interview. When I interviewed I was told that I had a 50/50 shot of getting in. For some specialties that might be a little bit higher. It just depends. As I said earlier, just be yourself and have some fun (if that's at all possible). More of my classmates will be there to greet you. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Warmly,
Marmite
Hello all,
How does everyone feel about their interviews?! I feel like mine was pretty conversational and relaxed. There were only a couple of questions I wish I would have prepared better for. This waiting game is going to be so tough!

Hey everyone! I hope you all are holding up in this waiting period. Does anyone know if we should be hearing decisions this upcoming week or the week after? I read that they heard back the 14th last year. I wanted to visit some east coast schools but I'm just worried about the short deadline to accept (SJ said 2 weeks). Of course, this won't matter if I'm rejected haha but just trying to plan as best I can! Thanks!

As I recall, SJ said they'll be deliberating 2 wks into February. I hope decisions will be posted by then, the wait is killing me In any case, congrats to everyone for finishing the interview! It was great to have met some of you guys at the interview and the Sat session afterwards.
As for the interview, mine felt really formal with the question-answer format but that's alright. I understand they have a bunch of interviewees to go through.

Hi all! Looks like last year they heard the 2nd friday of february (the 14th)...which would be the 10th! Keeping my fingers crossed that we hear in just a few days!

Hi all, my anxiety has been peaking this week and I'm just so ready to know my fate. I have 3 children and UCSF is the only school I can apply to because my family does not have the ability to move (too much to coordinate new schools and husband can't just leave his job).
Does anyone know from previous years if they post the communication about acceptance/denial in the online portal? Do we get an email? Where on the online portal?
If I remember correctly, I think Steven Johnson said he'd be sending out an email once the deliberation is over - hopefully before the 14th!
I think I mighta heard that we get an email with a 'status change update' and then we check our application status through the portal...not 100% sure tho

Yes, from what I've heard we get an email saying that our status has been updated and then you login to see what the change is. I believe there is a "Status" section as well as a "Communication" section, that's where I'm guessing we'll see the change/update.
A current student recommended logging in and making sure you know your password so you aren't stressing out and waiting for a password change email when you know your status has changed. Seems like good advice!
