The MEPN deadline is less than 2 months away, so I thought I'd get a thread started for us 2012 hopefuls!
I'm a first time applicant to the WHNP/CNM specialty, and feel like I've been getting ready to submit this application for so long! I've been working abroad for a public health NGO for the past couple of years and am a trained birth doula. I've finished up all of my prereqs and GREs, selected people for recommendations (including a slightly awkward visit to my undergraduate advisor...), so now I'm just drafting my essays. Does anyone even know what the application is supposed to look like this year? I'm just going off samples I've seen from previous years.
Some days I feel sort of confident about my chances, and other days I feel as though this is a total shot in the dark and definitely not going to work out!
Any other hopefuls out there? And anyone know when the application is actually going to open?
Same. I received an email that said "OK." Wish there was more to it than that!
I booked my flight late december and am staying with a friend from my undergrad. For the informal session the following day, is anyone dressing all suited up??? I think I'm more concerned what to wear that day over what to wear for the interview haha
Nope... not me. Although, I'm not wearing a suit to the interview either (going with dress pants and a nice top + jacket combo). I remember reading that people didn't feel suits were necessary, so I'm not going to buy one since money is kind of tight for me. Honestly, for the informal session I thought they really meant... you know... informal, so I was considering wearing jeans, boots, and a nice top. Now I'm reconsidering the jeans, hehe. Maybe khakis?
Thanks guys! I don't know why I didn't get an email back at all...that makes me a little worried. If you guys start getting more detailed emails about the actual day of the interview, can you please let me know. Thanks!
For the informal session, I'm not going to be dressing up. I was just going to wear jeans and a nice top. Since I already have a suit, I'm going to wear that for the interview; sometimes it's better to be overdress if you're not sure. But I think as long as you dress professionally for the interview, then you should be fine.
I agree. I didn't mean to imply that suits are over the top - I think it would definitely be appropriate to wear a suit. I just can't really afford one right now, so I'm going with more of a business professional look, hehe, which I think will be fine as well. Glad to hear I'm not the only one planning on jeans for the informal session!
