UCSF Medical Center New Grad Residency 2019

Nurses Job Hunt

Updated:   Published

UCSF hasn’t updated their RN training program page yet. Applications are rumored to be opening sometime in the next month or two. We can all keep eachother updated. What units are you all applying to?

Last year, the application dates were 4/11-4/20 with a program start date of 10/8. Last year's job posting stated that interviews would be conducted late-April to late-June and offers extended by late summer. Realistically, I think people were contacted to interview mid-May to late-June, second interviews shortly after, and all offers were sent by early to mid-July. I haven't seen anything about units for this year, but I think they tend to hire a relatively large number of new grads since they only do the residency program once a year. Hope this helps, and good luck to us all!

I emailed the general careers email ([email protected]) this morning asking for a program timeline, units that will be hiring, etc. I just received a response that they are posting the jobs mid-April and to check back at that time for all details.

to anyone who applied last year:

do you remember if you had to upload letters of reference or just input the contact info of your references?

@gmbrianna @sweetpotates No, all she said was to check the careers site mid-April for all details. Someone I know who applied last year said a cover letter wasn't required, but he did a separate one for each unit he applied to. He doesn't remember the exact instructions for the letters of rec, but he got one from one of his preceptors and one from a doctor he volunteers with.

Thank you for sharing the information! I've been checking their website, but nothing has been updated since 2018. Do you know where to access the nurse residency application when it's posted?

According to last year's job announcement: "To apply to our positions please go to www.jobs.ucsfmedicalcenter.org, click the search button, then either use the job code search on the left of the screen to search job code “9140” or use the key work search box at the top of the screen for “RN Residency” ." Hopefully it'll be the same this year!

Also for the references do we need the letter or just uploading contact info?

For anyone who doesn’t know. Their new grad postings were posted an hour ago. Closes on the 23rd. Inside sources says they are expecting over 8000 applicants like last year! Good luck!
