UCSD 2014 Summer New Grad Applicants

Published

Hi all!!

I wanted to start a thread for those who applied to the UCSD 2014 summer new grad RN program. I applied to 2 Med/Surg departments and according to HR, by the end of this week they will forward the lucky applicants to the appropriate departments for interviews. Yicks!!!

Has anyone on here also applied and has your application status changed from "open"?

THanks!

I did not make the interview manager just emailed me not sure what they were look for in their answers I'm really sad :(

RN_22 what time did you get a call?

I got a call Friday morningish. I'm so sorry to hear you didn't get the interview. Don't give up though; there's definitely something for you!

Thank you not sure what I did wrong maybe my answers how many hours did you have for nicu? :(

Over 250. How many did you have?

I wonder if thats why I did not get it I had 230

You can have the best stats, most hours etc and still not move on with the process. Don't get too caught up over it, you may have to go through this several more times if you are luck, being that it's California and all.

In San Diego I think it's also really important who you know. Join professional organizations. Since you're interested in NICU maybe join AWOHNN (or whatever NICU organization is out there) and go to the San Diego chapter meetings so you can meet nurses who are already working in the field. Once they get to know you they may be able to write you letters of recommendation or give you information as to when new jobs will be opening up. You never know who you might meet. Network network network!!

Or your personality doesn't click, weak interview skills, or your competition has the network like stated above. Apply and assume to work on all areas of application and interviewing process. Hopefully you're applying to all possible positions you see

I don't think that's the case. I may have had more hours but sometimes that doesn't matter, especially in such a close margin. Like zzbxdo said don't get caught up with it. Don't get discouraged and keep applying! I know you'll get something you love.

Has anyone applied for the IMU position ? My application status just changed on sept1st to 'under consideration'. Has anyone received a call for an interview ?

Has anyone heard from Thornton ICU?

hi dkol97~
