UCSD new grad residency August 2025 cohort

Published

Hello. Starting a thread for those applying to the August cohort. The dates for the upcoming webinar should be posted soon.
I will be graduating with my BSN June 2025. Former UCSD employee.

When do you guys think we should be hearing something by?

Low key I've been panicking checking every week to see if my resume was forwarded to the department I applied to. It usually takes a while. I do remember they said in the webinar that they have to manually go through each resume. It is not ai that refers you to the hiring department, and I vaguely remember they said something about April/May but I could be wrong. All I know is that I feel like I am an okey candidate so I am really hoping to at least get the chance to interview. I will post as soon as I see anything change, even if it means I don't get in 😞 but from my experience working at UC previously, you will first see the "refer to hiring department" status change. Then if chosen for an interview it changes again for something like "considering candidate interview", but this has to be manually changed by either HR or the hiring manager. I had cases where they would refer me but never got a call, or in one opportunity they offered me the job and it would still show "refer to hiring department". It is kinda like a hit or miss. Wishing us all good luck and to get in 🙌🏽🙏🏽

Hello everyone!

I just checked my application status and all of my application statuses have been updated to either "others more competitive" or "referred to hiring department"

Mine was updated to "referred to the hiring department" 🤞🏼

Girl stop!! Congratulations! 🥳🙌🏽 I almost had a heart attack! It said others more competitive for one of my applications "L&D" and  then referred to hiring department for my other three 💗 literally crying right now! And praying for us to get in!!

Check your emails! They sent an email to those that have been referred, letting us know that they will be reviewing applications in the next month or two! Make sure you check your spam! Good luck y'all 💛

Has anyone had an interview yet? Or any updates

Nope. I just got the emails that said that we met the minimum requirements and that if selected for interview they will contact us in one to two months. Just adding to the anxiety of nursing school 😩LOL but praying every night that I get the chance to interview.

Just FYI. UCSD is currently on a hiring freeze. I spoke to a manager this week and they basically said to not get discouraged and to be patient until the freeze is lifted. Im hoping they lift it soon!

Hello! Yes, they've been on it for a while actually, but this does not affect the new grad program 🙂 thankfully! 🙌🏽

From what the unit manager said I believe it does. They were in meetings all last week and when I asked she said it's the main reason why they haven't done interviews. But who knows that's just what I was told.

I understand the concern. But to ease it I found this on UCSD blink:

"UC San Diego has implemented a hiring freeze for core-funded positions effective February 19, 2025, in response to significant budget shortfalls stemming from federal and state funding cuts . However, UC San Diego Health, which oversees the Nurse Residency Program (NRP), is not subject to this hiring freeze. A UCSD Health spokesperson confirmed that while the health system has a stringent hiring process, it continues to hire for positions critical to its operations .”

Hope it helps ☺️
