UCSD New Grad Residency August 2023

Published

Hello everyone! Just thought I would start this thread for those applying to UCSD's new grad residency program starting this August! I know the job listing should be posted within the next week or so (:

I called HR and they said it would be fixed probably by tomorrow

Does anyone know how we are supposed to indicate our preference for which units? Do we mention it in our cover letter or does it ask us somewhere in the application?

Also wondering if anyone knows anything about JMC 5FG med/onc PCU or 4FGH surg/onc PCU? Is there somewhere I can find a description of the units/ patient population? I was trying to Google but nothing was coming up really.

Last question- how long will the application be open for?

thank you and best of luck to everyone!

Specializes in Pediatric Nurse.

When are you guys graduating? I graduate August '23 and am trying to figure out what the soonest start date would be for me/which cohort I could possibly start with

Hi! I was able to submit my application on Friday and there is a separate part that asks you to rank your first, second, and third unit of preference.

Thank you! Once you submit are you able to go back in and update anything?

Hi! It doesn't look like you can edit it after it's been submitted.

is it okay to apply for multiple applications? was thinking about doing the general and specialty.

I think it's OK! I'm applying to all of them ?

I'm graduating in May. This specific cohort would likely be too soon for you since you will need to allow time to get your ATT and take the NCLEX but I think they also have an October or November cohort that you would probably be eligible for! Best of luck to you!

I'm working on the specialty nursing application RN for ICU and I'm a bit confused about which units are hiring. On the job posting page it says JMC 3GH ICU, JMC 3F ICU, and Hillcrest Surgical ICU. From what I can gather from googling it looks like JMC 3GH ICU specializes in general surgery and oncology and JMC 3F ICU is a Neuroscience ICU. However when given the option to rank my choices at the end of the applictaion it only has CCU/Cardiovascular ICU and Surgical ICU as the options so I'm kinda lost LOL. Anyone have insight on this?

Did anybody else's application status get updated to "Referred to hiring department?”

My general application now says "referred to hiring department". My application for specialty nursing still just says "received", so I'm not sure if that's because I applied later due to the application glitch.
