UCSD New Grad Program - August 2013 Postings

Published

Hey everyone! Has anyone applied for the recent postings for New Grad positions at UCSD? I haven't seen much conversation on here about new grad positions so I thought I'd start this one. I applied for Hem/Onc, IMU, and PCU. I'll post on here if I hear anything! Best of luck to those that applied.

Has anyone been hired yet for the October New Grad program? I got hired on for the CCU and I start orientation on September 17. I was wondering if anyone else had their schedule yet...

Specializes in ER.

No updates for me either since my status changed.

When did you apply for the CCU and when was you interview?

I applied in May for the July New Grad program but wasn't going to be licensed in time. They interviewed me at the beginning of August for the October New Grad program.

Hi norcal2socalgirl,

prior to your interview on the CCU, did you have to answer any supplemental questions? Or did they directly contact you for an interview right away?

No supplemental questions. They just called me a week after my externship was over and invited me in for the interview. I think that externship was crucial for me getting hired because I was able to demonstrate my skills, network, and express interest in working on the unit.

Congratulations! and thanks for the response. Do you have any advice for the interview?

I was really nervous for my interview, but it wasn't as intimidating as I imagined it would be. Maybe it's because I knew the managers pretty well though. For me, they just asked standard interview questions and it only lasted 20 minutes. My friend is a charge nurse for the IMU at Thornton and she mentioned that they do several clinical scenarios in their interviews.

lilsurfergurl8o8: I can't send private messages yet, so could you send me your email address so I can respond to yours? Thanks :)

Did you get an interview?! :)

Hi Erin, no I haven't. Have you?

No, I just thought because you asked about the interview that maybe you did! I know UCSD kind of takes there time and that their process takes a little longer... so I'm not losing hope yet.
