Hello,
I recently applied for UCSD new grad summer 2013, and heard that they received over 900 applicants. I am unaware of the process of interviewing and application process, does any one have an idea? Have any one get a phone call? all I see is that my application were sent to hiring department. Waiting seem to be forever!!
Thanks
I've read from earlier comments that telemetry was canceled. There's currently an open app for Thornton med/surg telemetry. Is this the same unit that was canceled? Did anyone else apply? That's the 4th unit in the UCSD Health I've applied to since the beginning of August and every single one of my applications says "Application received (date). No phone calls yet. Being ignored by ONE hospital is starting to get depressing. Why not just give me a rejection email so I know where I stand at least.
I have a question... Does anyone know if any ICU there will be opening up any more new grad positions? And just in general how can I increase my chances of getting an interview? Have applied to 3 positions from Aug to now and no status changes. Applying from out of state has been a headache, as I'm sure it has been for in state too. Did an internship, clinical, and CNA work in ICUs and really would like to end up in one as a RN. Congrats to those who got jobs, and for the rest of us, we will get there!
The CCU at UCSD isn't opening up any more spots for the October new grad program. The next new grad program will be for December, but it depends on if the unit has vacancy spots to fill. This year they had 1 new grad for January, skipped the April new grad program because they didn't have any spots open, had 2 new grads for July, and one for October (me). I know that 3 out of these 4 new grads did a preceptorship on this unit and went to nursing school in San Diego. They also value volunteer experience in their applicants. Hope this helps!
UCSD hires on a per need basis. The budget is much tighter in the past several months and it's hitting every unit. It is believed that the tightening of monies is being allocated to the new facility being built in La Jolla. Staff are being forced to be put on call, decreased uses of ccps in favor of video monitoring and elimination of employees for small things. On my unit we are actually short staffed a lot of the time, but by given budget we are over. So not really sure how it's gonna work out since we just hired one experienced RN to assist with breaking etc.
Hey guys,
I just checked my status online for Job #67962 - New Grad RN - Thornton Med/Surg Telemetry and saw that my whole application history was cleared. It says that I didn't apply for any jobs, although I applied for the last 4 they've had up. If you applied for the Thornton Med/Surg position, you might want to check your account and make sure that it's still there, just in case it was wiped clean like mine and you have to do it over before it closes today. I'm contacting HR to figure out what happened.

Thanks for the info! I just checked and all of my applications are still there. Hopefully it was just a weird glitch or something and it won't affect your applications. Best of luck!
