UCONN CEIN/BS 2018

Published

Hi Everyone!

I saw many other threads from the previous years so I figured I would start a new one for the 2018 cycle. I recently got accepted after applying for the February 17th deadline to my first choice, Avery Point. I just wanted to connect with everyone else that is interested in this program or anyone that is going to be in this program!

I'm really excited to hear from you all and good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear back or applying for the other deadlines! :)

Congratulations!!

Hi everyone!

New to the forum here. Quick question on the prerequisites for UConn's CEIN: Will the program only accept the highest grades if I were to retake courses? For example (hypothetical situation), if I retook A & P 1 because I received a C and got an A the second time around, do they accept the A, or do they accept the average of the two which is a B? I know that if you retake classes they factor both grades, old and new, into your cumulative GPA. I just wasn't sure how the prerequisite GPA works. Also, does UConn limit you to how many classes you can retake? I know USJ does.

Thank you and good luck to all of the prospective students!

Eglute,

Do you know how the letter of references are uploaded on the website? I tried at add my references but when I try it says "Create a recommendation request" then I complete it and nothing happens. Im so confused as to how to do this.. please help the deadline is fast approaching!

I am sorry did not get back to you sooner and hope you got it all figured out. For me, all 3 reviewers were able to submit. When you create recommendation request, it goes directly to the persons email and it's up to them to complete. I sent personal emails to each reviewer to make sure they received the request. You will see the changes on your end only after the review was completed. Once again, I hope you was able to figure it out!!!

How do you guys see if the transcripts were verified?

Hi Everyone out there!

I am exploring the possibility of applying for the CEIN program at UCONN. I have a BS and MS in biology/chemistry and have been working as a research scientist for the past 30 years. My big question is: are there students in this program who are 50+ years old? I was recently laid off and would need to move out of state to find a comparable job in my field. Hence, the possible career change. As I sit here I am just wondering if it is even worth pursuing or not. Thank you in advance for the info.

Hi,

I was taking prerequisites at TRCC and we had several 50+ students going for the nursing degree. It's definitely a good choice. As for employment, check indeed.com, I saw a lot of postings for short term research employment in your field. I think one of the companies is called Leidos and another one is Aerotech. As well, several community colleges were looking for staff in your field.

I submitted my application last night and today I received this:"We wanted to let you know that all of the coursework on your NursingCAS application has been verified against your official school transcripts.

Now that your coursework is verified, we will calculate your GPAs and make that information available to the program(s) to which you applied. Please allow up to an hour from the time you receive this email for your GPA data to appear in your application."

I assume my transcripts were accepted and verified.

Has anyone actually seen the GPA calculations? My transcripts were verified last week and there is no indication of a GPA anywhere. When I look at the sites FAQs, it gives nothing.

I do not think we will be able to see it. It states "we will calculate your GPAs and make that information available to the program(s) to which you applied".

I have a question: were to upload proof of enrolment for outstanding prerequisite?

I emailed NursingCas but it will take a day to get response,,,

My account was verified last week too and I didn't see any GPA calculations like they said so I called nursingcas. They said that because we were only required to fill in our pre-reca and not our entire transcript, that they don't really calculate all the numbers because the program doesn't need it. so your account should be all set to go I wouldn't worry

I uploaded screenshots of the classes i'm registered for and I uploaded them in the section where you upload your resume and personal statement.

what did you guys write about in your personal statements? and how long were they? there was zero instruction on it..i feel like all the questions were extremely redundant im so disappointed that they switched the application to nursingcas it made everything so difficult.

I'm sure you guys probably already know this, but you can view your prerequisite and cumulative gpa's after your app has been verified by going to the status tab and downloading your application

if you only applied to uconn you won't be able to see it because they don't do all the calculations when you're only required to submit your prerecs
