I am posting this forum as a place to discuss the UCLA Winter 2019-2020 RN residency application! As a quick update, the application just opened today Oct 11th and will remain open until Oct 20th.

Hey guys, I applied as an external applicant on the first day applications opened--Med-surg RR/SM as first choice, Onco SM as second. My application status still says "submitted." Hoping to hear of a status change soon ?

I similarly applied the fIrst day it opened with first choice pediatrics and second choice medical ICU. This program is super competitive! I wonder how they narrow down 400+ applicants down to a few spots!n

I applied as an internal applicant on Friday with Geri Psych as my first choice and Med-Surg/Tele as my second choice.

The status of my application says "In Review" at this time.

Hi everyone! I will be submitting my app later this week for peds! Does anyone know what the "assessment" entails? Is it responses to questions that we have to record? Please let me know if anyone knows anything ?

The assessment generally includes questions that will present your qualities and characteristics as a potential applicant. The questions/statements are multiple choice with some of them ranking yourself from "1-10" or from "Strongly Disagree" to "Strongly Agree." It is not difficult, but answer truthfully and wisely.

I'm not sure if your results will affect your outcome on receiving an interview on a given unit, but it should not be something to stress about.

Hi, all! I submitted my application a couple days ago, and will be keeping my fingers crossed for you all that have posted about applying to the residency on this forum!

Just two quick questions I was hoping someone had answers to- I was under the impression that the application was supposed to close on the 20th, but it seems like it's still open. Does this mean that they're trying to increase the pool of applicants before narrowing down the pool? And secondly, does anyone have an idea as to when exactly the residency would start for those who will be offered a spot in the program?

Hi,

To my knowledge the application looked open but was actually no longer accepting submissions. There was some mix up in the application open date and I think it was related to that situation.
