UCLA New Grad Winter 2025 Cohort

Updated:   Published

Hey guys! I'm starting this thread for the Winter 2025 Cohort at UCLA. Hopefully we can update each other on application processes, interviews, and job offers!

The application opened up today 09/06! Good luck to all of us ❤️

Is anyone else starting to lose hope in applying to residencies?
My nursing school never educated us about externships at hospitals so I don't have that under my belt, nor hospital experience at as a CNA/PCT during nursing school, only prior to nursing school at a SNF. All I have is a great GPA, and team lead/customer service experience. I'm starting to get so discouraged because I wish I knew what these residencies were truly looking for.

Don't lose hope! I have 2 years of hospital experience working as a nurse extern and 6 years of restaurant/hospitality experience, and I thought that having those under my belt would make me stand out. I applied to so many hospitals (Kaisers new grad, Huntington Hospital, Cedars Sinai, Scripps, Stanford, John Muir, etc.), and those hospitals either rejected or overlooked my application. There are friends I graduated with that have no healthcare experience, and they got accepted in to those new grad programs. It really just depends on the hospital. Another big thing is that there's so many people graduating from nursing school at the same time, and not enough new grad positions open. Having connections is a big thing too! If you know someone at a hospital that you want to work at, they can kind of help you become noticed by the hiring managers - but how you do in your interview also plays big part in getting an offer.

Guys! I'm trying to apply and when I click apply it says Error! Page not found. It said on the website and stated during the Zoom Informational Session that they would be closing applications 5pm PST on September 16th. It is still the 15th Are applications still open?

@excitednhrse.303 The same thing happened to me! I went to the info session and they told us that it would remain open until the 16th at 5pm! It can't be that they closed the apps early because someone also asked in the chat during the info session if there was a benefit to submitting the application earlier in the application period and the senior talent acquisition consultant replied to them and he said no. I hope it's just a technical problem that they can fix. If anyone hears back, please let me know. I will keep checking as well. I also emailed.  [email protected]

I hope we can still apply :’(

I emailed them as well! There is also a number we can call, as posted on the UCLA nurse residency program website: 1-866-895-6690. I will give them a call in the morning to try and tell them the application period was not true to the timeline they gave us! Hopefully, they can do something about it! Sending good luck!

Let us know what you hear! I was planning on submitting today....

In the same boat. Hope they reopen it!

From an email I received today from the UCLA talent acquisition team. The application is open now.

"The deadline has been extended to 7pm PST tonight, 9/16/2024."

Is anyone now having issues creating a password? I keep being met with "the password doesn't meet the security requirements". And I have tried multiple passwords all following the criteria. I need to turn this in asap.

Those that submitted a couple days ago does your application still just say "submitted"?
