Can those with interviews for Peds give a little information about your background. I am feeling frustrated about how "stronger candidates" were picked. I know some of the people that have moved this next step, and I know my qualifications versus theirs. I realize I am not all that, but know that I am strong in my own right.

Hello everyone,

First time posting here. I've only applied to CHLA and UCLA new grad programs. Got rejected at CHLA but going in for an interview for UCLA in two weeks. Really nervous about it. Does anybody have any idea what kind of questions they ask on first interview? are there clinical/nursing questions?? coz for CHLA,it's more of questions about yourself...what you do, personality etc....

anyhow, congratulations on everyone else who made it to the first cut.

@lld818 lol I'm in the same boat as you. I applied for both CHLA and UCLA but haven't got notified from CHLA so how did you know you were rejected?? and as far as UCLA this is my first time applying and I can't believe I have made it through the first interviews! some people have applied in the past so I just feel so blessed :) but anyway I want to know about the interview as well and what kinds of questions they ask. does anyone know if the NICU have second interviews??thanks!

&& good luck to everyone who are still waiting for calls! just keep praying.

hey y'all! i just started following the thread, and had a concern/question. i read on the thread that icu nurse managers will not consider hiring any new student that has not completed a clinical rotation/ senior practicum in an icu...is this true? i was offered an interview for the transplant icu but i have had zero icu experience. i have had multiple clinical rotations on step-down transplant units. any thoughts? i find it odd to be offered an interview if i do not meet the criteria. thanks for any feedback and good luck with the interview process.

Hey freetibet. It is true that the nurse recruiter has said that they won't consider you for ICU without a clinical practicum in ICU. However I have heard from multiple people, including nurses working in UCLA ICUs that this is not a strict rule. I agree that they would not have given you an interview if you don't meet the criteria. As you can see from this message board plenty of great applicants did not get an interview, so there would be no reason for them to do that. That being said, you may be competing with people who do have this experience so I would recommend having a really good answer ready for why they should pick you over those people. For instance, patients often go from ICU to step down or vice versa and your experience gives you perspective into the continuum of care and will help you relate to the issues facing nurses on other units. They are giving you a chance to sell yourself so spin, spin spin... thats my advice :)

Hello I am new here..I just want to make a comment that it sucks those of us who selected CCU/medsurg tele SMH as first choice and didn't even get a chance for interview. If i knew ahead of time that UCLA prefers u to have ICU as preceptorship for interview consideration, then I wouldn't pick that as my first choice but med surg since most of my rotations were med surg. I just though they just they would consider all three choices for interview as long u meet the requirements.

^^Of course they consider all three of your choices; i've seen people get interviews for their second choices, so it does happen.

DId you get a rejection email for CHLA? My status is still the same.

@ newgrad12

I got an email from them...funny coz i got both rejection and interview emails from both on the same day..lol..Yess,same thing here..i wasnt expecting to get an interview from ucla at all..i feel blessed too...

Does anybody know if theres a contract too for the program? I know chla requires 2yr contract upon completion of the program..

Hi all!

Its my first time posting here and I have an interview on the 12th for CT ICU. I'm very nervous since i've only been to 1 interview all my life and that was my first job where I still work at right now. Any tips?
