Hello to all prospective UCLA Nurses!
My name is Matthew and I'm a CSU Long Beach alumnus.
I'm currently working as a Super User RN for the UCLA Health System.
I hope this thread will be able to answer our questions about the application, interview process and a place for any updates anyone receives for the 2013 new grad program.
With that said, I was told by recruitment that applications will be made available in March. :)
Hi guys,Is the physical covered or we have to pay for it?
Because at my physical I was sent to do an chest X-ray and I just received the bill for the X-ray which I didn't know I had to pay for otherwise I would've given them my insurance info. Now I'm hoping I don't get a bill for the physical too
The physical is covered. Make sure you call them and give them your insurance info before paying for the Xray.
I am so excited to start next week. Looking to reach out and meet some of my fellow CT-ICU nurses to get acquainted. I look forward to meeting you all. I know it is going to be amazing!
Side note: Took my NCLEX today (UCLA said I needed to take it before the start date, IP was not sufficient), the test shut off at 75 questions, know I got the last one right, and I got the "good Pearson Vue notice". Does anyone have any input on this and should I feel confident that I will have my RN license soon? All input is appreciated. Stressing out because I don't know what to tell them or miss out on this opportunity. Also how long after the test did it take for it to show up on the BRN?
Thanks so much in advance.

I would say that I'm 99.9% sure you passed. You can check the BRN website on Tuesday and look for your name. If your name shows up, you should get your license a week after that. Hope this helps. :)

Hey you!! Congrats on taking the test and early congrats on passing!! From all the forums regarding the pvt trick, if you got the good pop up, you're in the clear so ill see you on the 26th!!
Hi CaliRN07,
Would you be willing to provide insight to how you were able to obtain an interview? Due to the highly competitive nature of New Grad positions in California I would like all or any helpful pointers to improve my chances at obtaining a RN New Grad position when I graduate in May 2014.
For example, did you....
1. Contact the hospital beforehand to schedule a tour with a Nurse Manager
2. Did you know someone at the hospital that was able to pass your resume forward to HR/Nurse Manager
3. Have specific certifications such as PALS, ACLS, BLS, ECG and Pharmacology
4. Something special or different you did on your resume/cover letter to convey your enthusiasm for nursing
5. Graduate from a top-notch school with a 3.7+ GPA
6. Involved with an organizationon campus or had prior nursing skill experience such as volunteering at a hospital as a Nurses Aid
Any mentorship and insight would be much appreciative!
