UCLA New Grad RN 2013

Published

Hello to all prospective UCLA Nurses!

My name is Matthew and I'm a CSU Long Beach alumnus.

I'm currently working as a Super User RN for the UCLA Health System.

I hope this thread will be able to answer our questions about the application, interview process and a place for any updates anyone receives for the 2013 new grad program.

With that said, I was told by recruitment that applications will be made available in March. :)

I called the nurse recruiter and find out that within the 1 hour slot for the interviews there will be 20mins given to each person for their interview time. :)

Do you know if the 1 hr time slot is only for one person? Or are there multiple candidates interviewing in that 1 hr time slot?

Sorry for the double post!

@ner214

I'm guessing that since it's 20mins per person, there will be 3 people within the 1 hr slot...?

Hi everyone, I received an invitation to interview for the oncology unit at Santa Monica Hospital. Does anyone know how many new grad RNs they will be taking on their unit? It's my dream & passion to work as an oncology nurse. Good luck to you all

That makes sense. Man, I was really hoping it was 1 candidate per hour. Thanks for letting us know :) best of luck to you!

I am not 100% true this is right - when I signed up for my slot it said session full right after. That is why I am asking if anyone who got Oncology also had that happen and also if any Oncology interviews are happening the week of July 8.

I just found out that there is only 1 interview day from Oncology - if it really is only 4-8 people interviewing (depending on if there is 1 or 2 people per slot), our chances are relatively high, assuming they will be hiring 2-4.

@jonnychang when I signed up for a time slot, it did not say it was full.

Heyo -

Anybody doing PICU? Does anybody know what kind of questions they ask in this initial interview? And then also, is anybody for PICU doing a phone interview? Trying to swing flights, but the cost is just crazy - but don't want to be the only phone interviewee.

Congratulations! Has anyone heard from L&D?

ok cool I believe there is two per slot then.

Anyone want to post stats? I have slightly above 3.5, passed nclex, finished school, ACLS, PALS - I read from last years thread that personality matters more than GPA - some guy got hired with a 3.3 among people with higher GPAs.
