UCLA New Grad Residency Winter 2017

Published

Hi Everyone!

UCLA's application for their new grad residency program opened today so I thought I'd make a forum where we could all chat & support each other through the stressful process. Good luck to everyone who applies!

STAFF UPDATE

Tell us about UCLA by visiting University of California (UCLA) School of Nursing | Peer Reviews.

I applied to ED and Peds! I also did not sign anything, so much so that when it asks for the Cover Letter in Word format, I couldn't place my signature at the bottom. I hope we are all offered interviews!

Hi everyone! Applied to Psych and OR. I did get the email re: the personality test (it was immediate, before uploading docs).

Does anyone know what the next steps are? I have heard that if we are selected for an interview, they will send us a packet to complete but has anyone else heard different? Is there an essay portion?

Just from browsing through past cohort forums, the status on the application will change to "routed to interview supervisor" first. Then they will email us letting us know if we got selected for an interview and send us a sign-up sheet for interview times that's first-come-first-serve. I don't think there's an essay portion but I know that they want you to bring your unofficial transcript to the interview.

Yes the application status will change first, 'routed to interviewing supervisor' is the first change. If chosen for interview, then an e-mail will be sent which you'll be given limited time slots to pick from. No essay, and transcripts aren't required until an offer is made to you. You can bring transcripts if you choose.

Do you guys know if any editing can be made to your application before the time period ends ?

No editing can be done.

Thanks for clarifying! So is this everyone's first time applying to UCLA and is everyone a new grad or in school, what other residencies are you applying to, and where is everyone from??

This is my first time applying to UCLA, I also have applied to CHLA. I graduate in December and I currently live in Northern Cal. Sad to be leaving the area that pays the highest but OC is my hometown

Nice! Goodluck to you! I'm a new grad, and I am applying to UCLA and Sharp Hospital in San Diego!

This is my first time applying to UCLA too and I'm looking at a few other programs in the LA area and the Bay Area. I'm originally from San Francisco but I'm going to school right now in Washington State and I'll be graduating in December. I'm so excited to finally start applying to all these programs! They are all such great opportunities so, hopefully, it works out for all of us!

Is everyone's resume usually one page length? I read so many different things about how long it should be

My resume is 2 pages. I have heard that it should be condensed to 1 page if on your second page there is only 3-4 lines. It depends on how much relevant experience one has but I see no problem with 2 pages max
