UCLA New Grad Residency Spring 2023

UCLA 2023 Residency Program

Hi everyone! Please share your experience, tips, updates, etc concerning UCLA's New Grad Residency beginning in March 2023.

@Qwertyu hello, I was doing some research about RR UCLA, and I have a couple of questions that I hope you can answer. I was wondering how much does it cost for parking at the hospital  (per month/year) since parking is not free for employee. Also, does UCLA provide weekend differential? and if we have to always work on the weekend or every other weekend?

Hi all! I haven't heard from SM 4SW onc, assuming the worst. Such a bummer! For anyone else who didn't get an offer, I'm pretty sure my hospital (community hospital of Huntington Park) is still hiring for medsurg, tele, ER, and ICU. We are a TINY community hospital in a rough area but the pay is really good for new grads and I'm getting tons of experience as an ER RN. I know these programs want us "fresh" and without bad habits from other health systems, but for anyone who needs that RN $$$ sooner rather than later it's an option

My friend works as a new grad in their ED. Friend told me $39 baseline, but with overtime, its like $44 mixed.

Does anyone know what kind of educational benefits ucla offers for its employees?

Specializes in pediatric.

Anyone familiar with differences between CHLA and UCLA and which one is better to work at?

I have a friend that has worked at CHLA for the past 5 or 6 years. She said she loves it there but the pay isn't very good. To help you get an idea, I would make more per hour as a new grad at UCLA compared to her current hour rate at CHLA. Like almost $10 more. This same friend worked at UCLA while she was getting her RN license and she told me that the culture at CHLA was better than UCLA's. Of course everyone has their own experience and opinion but that's what my friend had shared with me

Does anyone know of anyone receiving offer letters after the 12/9 deadline from any floor?

Yeah, they said we’d hear unit decisions by Friday, but it’s been dead silence for most of the week. It feels like it’s all done LOL

They might send out offers if someone declines a spot ? so there may be a chance if someone declines the offer and accepts a different hospital
