Hi everyone!
The application for the new grad program at UCLA for the Winter 2016 cohort opens today. Finally! It feels like I've been waiting in anticipation for so long. Any other hopefuls applying for this cohort? I figured I'd start a thread so we could update each other on the status of our applications and such... I know I've poured over many threads from the past cohorts to try to get more info!
Good luck everyone who is applying!
I can't apply for endorsement because I still don't have my MN RN... graduate in December. I'm applying for licensure by examination through California to expedite the process and not have to wait for endorsement after receiving my license. I plan on officially applying for license by examination in the next week or so after I send get my fingerprints done. I obviously will have to wait to get approval to test until after the CA BON receives my transcript with my degree posted (late January I'm told by my school). However, the website for BON says that the interim permit will be granted as soon as the BON receives proof that you have completed an accredited nursing program. So I'm hoping the interim permit will start processing in late January and be approved by March, with my license hopefully following a few weeks later depending on how long that process takes.
Yes, you are correct that we BON site says that. I initially applied for licensure by exam here in CA. It still took them 10 weeks to give me my ATT, and that is when they would have issued my interim permit. At that point I had already gotten my license in GA because we thought we might be moving back. When I was on the phone with the board a month ago, they told me the interim permits are processed at the same time as when they process your application for licensure by exam to give you your ATT. Unfortunately that means 10-12 weeks according to their current info on the site. You might want to call and ask though, as this could have changed in the last 6 weeks or so.
Here is where they have that posted Board of Registered Nursing - Processing Times
That 10-12 week time frame starts from when they process your payment, so even though I submitted my application in August, they didn't process my payment until the 2nd week of September. That is when the 10-12 weeks started. It is a horrible pain to wait so long, but hopefully they can speed up the system soon. I hope this helps! I wish I had known to apply sooner
Yea, my understanding is that it is a long process in CA, so that kept me from applying to other programs that required that license be in hand by the start day. I plan to get my fingerprints done tomorrow and submit the payment for the application. Hopefully my payment is "processed" by January so that there's no delay in getting my ATT and interim permit by the time they receive my transcript with the posted degree. Not sure how it works sending things in pieces, but it's really my only option if I don't want to wait until late January to start the "processing". Why must it take so long?! Haha
When is the last day to apply? Can someone help? The last day on the website says Sunday October 12, but today is the 11th? I'm confused
Hello! I am applying to this program too. Yay! I am still doing last minute edits on my cover letter and resume though. I think it possibly means that the application is due at midnight tonight.
Hey everyone! I am VERY excited about this program! My top choices are ED, Neuro/Trauma ICU, and Cardiothoracic ICU. Does anyone have any info about the residency other than what is posted on the website? I'm not sure if there was an info session or anything, but would love it if any additional info could be shared on this thread :)

Apply now if you haven't yet! It takes 10-12 weeks to get it. I'm still waiting. I have my GA license, but CA is sooooo slow. I'd go ahead and at least start the process. I was told it takes the same time frame to get the interim permit.
