UCLA New Grad Program Winter 2016

Published

Hi everyone!

The application for the new grad program at UCLA for the Winter 2016 cohort opens today. Finally! It feels like I've been waiting in anticipation for so long. Any other hopefuls applying for this cohort? I figured I'd start a thread so we could update each other on the status of our applications and such... I know I've poured over many threads from the past cohorts to try to get more info!

Good luck everyone who is applying!

I got an email for oncology as well! Looking forward to my interview on the 3rd! Good luck to everyone!

"When is your interview date?

Is your online status changed to "Routed to supervisor..." after you received an email for interview? Mine still hasn't changed yet. Wonder if there is still hope for me or not"

I noticed my application status changed to "routed to supervisor" and then that afternoon I received the invitation. My interview is on December 2nd.

Does anyone know if they are still sending out emails for peds interviews?!

I received the email to interview for Pediatrics Acute on 11/5, and the interviews are being held on just one day, which is 12/9.

Someone on the Facebook page said that UCLA only hires about 10% of the candidates that interview. Does anyone know if these are accurate numbers for new grad programs in the past?

I saw that too. I don't know if it's accurate. It's pretty discouraging if it is.

Is it safe to say that we're out of the running if our status hasn't changed?

I wouldn't say that, just because they take quite a while to get back at people. It's just an agonizing wait :dead:

Haha. Yesssss [emoji40][emoji44]

I just called nursing recruitment regarding interviews because I was curious if I would have to fly out twice for a second interview (this first interview is costing me nearly $1000 because it fell on the Monday after thanksgiving). They said that they would likely not do phone interviews for second interviews for those of us coming from out of state. Does anybody know anything about this process for out of state applicants?

From what I've read in the past, people were either invited back that same day for their second interview ooooorrrrr they bypass the second interview overall and a decision was made based on the references we provide after moving forward passed that first interview. But i can't say i'm 100% sure :(

That would be a bit difficult if they asked you to fly back a second time... :dead:

10% could be 30 out of 300 or 60 out of 60 applicants. I'm sure this gets hundreds of applicants and so 10% isn't that crazy a number.
