Hi everyone!
I am planning on applying to UCLA's MECN program for 2021 and since I did not see a thread here yet I wanted to get one going for us to share questions and concerns. Good luck to everyone!

YESS I'm planning to take it through UCB Extension too for $445 as opposed to around $2000 if taken at UCLA (as previously mentioned by @Yuki Minami, thanks Yuki!!). I also checked and it is on UCLA's list of approved Epi courses. Here is the link to the course: https://extension.berkeley.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=41822.
If any current MECNs have any advice/tips for taking the course either at UCB/UCLA, we would really appreciate it!!

100% don't take it at UCLA. For one, it's much more costly (~$1.5k with all fees), and now that Summer is online as well, you will be paying a lot more for an online class. The UCB extension was nice ($450) because I got to do it on my own time but if you're the type to fall behind on self-paced videos/HW/tests, I don't recommend it (although you do have 6 months to complete the course!). I don't know how easy UCLA's epi class was, but I got an A+ in the UCB online one!

Thank you, Yuki, for this helpful information! I just looked up this course. Is it titled: Principles of Epidemiology PB HLTH X186, and were the instructors: (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) and (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME)? I know you said we have 6 months to complete the course, how long did it take you to complete it? And how shortly after you found out you were accepted did you start the course?

yes, that's the correct course! I believe I started it in May and finished in July! So about 2-3 months (I was working at the time). As long as you finish before the fall quarter starts, you're fine ? You can technically finish the course in a month if you want to and don't space it out.
Thank you so much @Yuki Minami! I appreciate you for taking out your time to write for us. Everything you said helps not only me but everyone else. You're the best!!

Hi! Welcome! I've been following along this forum since I've submitted my application. I don't think it's available yet. We're all anxiously waiting for a response?

I'm not a former UCLA grad but I received the UID on 11/02 in the email titled "APPLICATION RECEIPT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT-DO NOT REPLY" from UCLA Graduate Admissions ([email protected]).
Maybe check your spam if some of you have missed it??
