Is anyone applying to the Fall 2012 program ? I have a few questions and I think it would be good to share our concerns regarding the application process here.

I am a preschool teacher and I am applying for 2012. Have very little healthcare volunteer experience and wondering if that really maters. I have some experience looking after a family member who had a stomach surgery and chemo.

Hi Everyone,

Try checking your SPAM box if you havent received an email from the Graduate Division. Mine was sitting in there. phew.

hi guys! so i might be applying next year to the ucla mecn program, but i was wondering where to take the epidemiology requirement? Since I'm no longer at a university, and they don't offer the class at the community college level, where does one take the class?

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting. I was wondering if anyone on the waitlist has heard back. I was checking last year's board and it seems like they heard back before their March 18th deadline. I'm in the single digits, but I really want to go to UCLA. If not, it looks like I'll be off to Western. Thanks for any help!

Hi guys, I recently found out that I was admitted, and just wanted to introduce myself! I'm 25, grew up in Colorado, went to UCLA undergrad, and am so so excited to be returning to Westwood for the next 2 years. I am currently living back in CO and will be taking epidemiology through BYU this summer, but am aiming to be back in LA by late August or early September. I'm looking to rent an apt in Westwood, preferably close to campus because I have an adorable, very friendly blue pit lab mix that will need to be let out in between classes. Also, there are so many apartments and it is just so much easier to live close to campus rather than deal with shuttles or hoping to win the parking lottery that accommodates 1/3 of all applicants (I know this bc I worked for UCLA transportation services as an undergrad). If anyone is looking for a roomie, holler at me! My email is [email protected]

@happyperson2

If you look on the MECN sight i believe under course requirements/ pre-reqs (something like that) it gives you a list of apporvef epi classes throughout the country.

You will either enroll at an University through their extended education or take the BYU online class.

Hope this helps

thank you so much for your help =)

Hi Breezy123,

Congratulations! If you don't mind me asking, were you admitted off the waitlist? And if so, how did they contact you? I'm in the single digits and I haven't heard anything from them...the anticipation is killing me! Congrats again from another former Bruin. :)

Hi Lilacwine,

i'm on UCLA waitlist and got accepted to western as well. where else did you apply and got accepted to? why western? i'm trying to decided where i should go if i don't get acceted into UCLA program. i got accepted to western, azusa, and CSUN...and interview at CSUF. anything would help. :)

Hi jungdt,

I got accepted to Western also! A huge factor for me is cost, and Western's tuition without considering housing/books is 119k for the 4 years whereas UCLA's tuition is around 20,000. The location is also better for me. Another reason why I like UCLA that it's only 2 years and I can choose to specialize in something down the line if I wanted to like nurse anesthetist or NP in nicu/other sub-specialty. With Western, there are only a few tracts you can choose from and the NP one is strictly Family nurse practitioner. What schools are you leaning towards? Hope I helped!

hi lilacwine!

did you hear back yet? i'm in the same position and have been waiting all day for some news! please let me know :)

I emailed the lady who we have to email to accept our alternate list position on Friday. And she said everyone will be notified and updated with their status tomorrow ( 3/20). Hope this helps. I too was waitlisted.

thanks Blessed63!

do you know if we're accepted off the waitlist when we have to tell them our decision?
